Hello,

Can any one explain the technology used for SSD & SAS Storage? And which one is better in performance?
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

Thank you

Both are different storage concepts, SAS is a mechanical hard drive which usually spins at 10000 or 15000 RPM, higher than your average SATA at 5200 or 7200 RPM, also the price is higher. Its capable to outperform a conventional SATA hard drive, however they don't come close to modern SSD Drives, besides solid state drives don't contain any moving parts inside of them, snice they store data on flash memory.

Regarding performance

SATA = good
SAS = better
SSD = Best

SSD is the best choice. Solid State Drives are the most advanced and the fast storage medium

Solid state drives are known for their better durability and speed and that's why they tend to come at a little bit higher cost. But, in terms of performance, this is the best option.

SATA is actually much better in terms of durability. Read/write errors are much more common occurrences in SSD drives than any other storage media.

SSD will provide the best performance, no doubt, but will require more frequent hardware replacement.

You can't really compare them, because they are different things, SAS is a drive interface, whilst SSD is drive technology. As you can get different Hard Drives with different interfaces you can do the same for SSD, but yeah you should be generally focusing on SSD's

SATA = high storage, low disk I/O ( under 100 )
SAS drives = medium storage. medium disk O/O ( 100-300/400 )
SSD = less storage, high disk I/O ( 500+ )
NVME SSD = least storage, highest disk I/O ( 1k + )

High I/O = faster site loading speed, but keep in mind, routing, latency etc, plays an important role too !
Best performance = Fastest Drive with sufficient storage in your budget, with good routing to your target audience + a good CDN for the rest of the world
