Does Google work the same in every country?

Hello people,

I have been asking myself a question lately: What are the effects of Google updates (Panda, Penguin, etc.) on the search engine algorhythms and ranking from queries of other countries?

To be more exact, if someone were to rank for some keywords in Hungary, can they use blackhat methods such as Web 2.0 PBNs, excessive blog commenting, etc. to reach the first page on Google.hu?

If you use black hat methods you will easily rank the page, but you'll also get a penalty with a 99% certainty. Actually, with Google's new updates, you won't even get a penalty, Google will just devalue your "bad" backlinks.

Easiest, white-hatest way to rank on Google.hu is to get a .hu domain, get Hungarian hosting, write in Hungarian and get white-hat backlinks.

Really? I saw many pages ranked solely on directories, but I would also like to diversify things a bit without going too white hat haha.

If that's the case then you'll easily rank that page with a diverse backlink profile. Though, if it's a business site I'd do only white hat and maybe (just maybe) gray-ish hat :)

I heard that it's possible to cloak your black hat links from moz, but to fool google at the same time. (not talking about .com).
Thoughts on this?

You can "cloak" them by using different IPs, different providers etc. for your PBN. Don't interlink the sites. Doing a PBN is a whole different part of Black-hat SEO. Don't do it on a business site if you don't know what you are doing. I'd only do black-hat on Tier 3 sites.

And how would Tier 2 websites look like in your opinion? It would be great if you could give a safe link pyramid example to use nowadays.

Thanks in advance :)

I would highly recommend you to avoid any grey or black hat techniques in 2017. SEO changed a lot in this year and what worked earlier will get penality now.

Now Google works realtime, we do not need to see months to get penality. It can be seen next day, and recently we saw a website completly removed from search for using blackhat techniques. Its better to do other marketing methods than using blackhat nowadays.

Hope this helps you.

Note: I am suggesting this from my personal experience. We never suggest anyone to use blackhat or grey hat techniques.

Try to get your backlinks from other .hu domains and also from websites related to Hungary. Surely this would be helpful to get good rankings in google.hu

The rules apply the same for every country out there. But, like the above member mentioned getting backlinks from country specific domains helps a lot. But I believe there is no country preference given by Google.

To get backlink from the same country domain is beneficial for the website at some point and surely affects the ranking in Google. But if we get from other country source then i don't think it is wrong at any point.

Google doesn't work same in every country. For example Google Panda algorithm launched initially for English language google engines in February 2011 then 17 months later, Google pushed it out in Korea and Japan to target asian languages. Google Penguin algorithm was more global and impacting sites in any language. Some of Google's algorithms are global on day one, some are for specific countries, some are for specific for niches, some are rolled out slowly to other countries, regions and languages.

Guys im going to go aganst the grain here a bit , ive have a tool that does some auditing on my site so once in a while it will update , google.de or google.co.za ect ect individually, i think individual adjustments are made to those algorithms as needed.

To add to what im saying , i live in south africa i have seen some things , like link schemes and keyword stuffing , thousands of links from foreign sites ...Thinks ive heard and seen many people on online forums get penalised for, yet some of these guys remain top ranking in google for their queries.

Google like every company has a budget , i think they give more attention to the places where they make more money. I may be wrong its just my observation.

Algorithms will apply for all countries and websites
ranking from queries of other countries?
They are different and you can get high rankings on a country but no for another countries because you only get good ranking for the location that you are targeting.
