Do you think it's unprofessional to use wordpress as CMS?

well, i see many hosts use themes from whmcstemplates or they do their own templates by coding, but unfortunately i don't know any coding and barely have any free time to learn it, so actually i'm using a template from wordpress. Somehow it feels unprofessional for me, what do you guys think about using wordpress as CMS?

All depends on the scale of the company. For a large company, say GoDaddy, as a community I think we expect them to have lots of internal developers in that case it would look unprofessional for them to use a free platform like Wordpress. On the contrary, for a small business, as long as everything is fully customized and unique, Wordpress is a great starter option.

There is nothing wrong with using Wordpress as a CMS, infract it might even offer a more professional look with less effort and cost involved. Remember to always look for fast and responsive wordpress templates, that way it will load faster for the end users and try to avoid faulty plugins.

I dont there is any thing thats making you feel unprofessional with Wordpress website. Its actually the faster way to get your website up , however you just need to make sure that you are using updated version of the wordpress every time and you are all set.

WordPress is one of the largest CMS' there is. A lot of people use it, both large and small companies and business owners as well.

What the end result ends up being is on you. It can look very professional or very unprofessional. That is the beauty of WordPress.

If you don't have knowledge about programming or Wordpress coding, you have 2 options to do this
- Hiring a freelancer to do custom works for you.
- Learn Wordpress (Learn their codes, how their framework works, and PHP until you can do what you want).

I don't think this way is unprofessional, I am also using Wordpress, I can build a Wordpress theme from scratch but now I often buy themes and making changes on them, that is faster and better instead of coding a new theme, building a theme from scratch consumes more time and that was unprofessional for me

WordPress has become so popular because website owners don't have to design as much themselves if they can use templates or themes. This cuts down on cost and time. You can spend virtually nothing or several hundred dollars. I suppose if your site doesn't look like it's made with WordPress it shouldn't matter. Not everybody is going to start learning to become an expert in a new skill and that's totally fine. You can't learn to do everything

Sometimes people confuse unprofessional with simple... The only problem I've seen some have with going the WordPress route is forgetting about security, backups and responsive designs.

Doesn't mean it's easy to use and much faster to deploy, it's already unprofessional. Wordpress is pretty decent IMO. It provides clean themes and important plugins to help you create a responsive and beautiful site.

Wordpress has 60 percent market share. What does this mean?
More people use wordpress than any other CMS means wordpress is a popular platform. Wordpress is good for small and medium website, however, if your website is really big and gets thousands of visitors every day or has hundreds of members, wordpress may not be an idle choice. For a big website, Drupal could be better option.
Free does not mean it is bad. Most of the popular CMS are open source.

I wouldn't concern yourself too much about looking unprofessional from a CMS, after all - your time should be invested more in the service you provide rather than a design with all of the bells and whistles.

Many small business and the enterprise are integrating WordPress in their projects. So it's definitely not unprofessional to use WordPress. In fact it saves money and time. It's lot easier to train new people on the WordPress. I have also seen some of the schools and university making use of the WordPress for their community. So it's definitely have gone beyond basic CMS level. And now in fact many places think of it as a standard to know while hiring people for handling their backend work. I won't be surprised if there are billing systems with the WordPress on front end and billing on backend.

Why should I code myself to make my blog that publishes only articles? Don't you know? Building a dynamic CMS like Wordpress takes a long time and a lot of experiments. So, why don't you use an existing CMS as long as it's free, and there are many themes out there along with theirs customized features to meet your business needs. The word unprofessional is not for a marketer bloggers. If you are a professional, you will think the factor of efficiency to run your web-based business, and then you use a CMS like Wordpress, Joomla, or Drupal.

WordPress is not un-professional, you can go with it. Just you need to search the themes which will look like professional theme. It's easy to use and handle so go with it, no issue.

Just make sure, it will user friendly and responsive.

I think Wordpress is fine! About 50%+ of the internet uses Wordpress for a CMS because its highly customizable. And a lot of the time you can't even tell its a wordpress website. Having said all of they I would be sure to invest in a good skin or even a custom skin. Because your web hosting company would look very unprofessional with a free wordpress skin.

There is nothing wrong in starting your CMS with Wordpress. It's the fastest and easiest way to set up your website. Moreover, Wordpress provides a very neat themes that you can get with a few dollars. My brother is a website designer and Wordpress is what he uses in designing for people.
