Hi everyone,
I’m running a handful of WordPress sites on PHP 7.4 and have been hearing a lot about the performance boosts in PHP 8.x faster load times, JIT compilation, improved type safety but I’m also wary of plugin or theme compatibility issues and the effort involved in testing and deployment. Upgrading could give me a real speed edge, but it might also mean chasing down deprecation warnings and broken extensions.
So, is moving to PHP 8.x on WordPress a smooth win these days, or should I stick with a tried-and-true 7.x environment until more plugins catch up?
Looking forward to hearing your upgrade stories, gotchas you’ve hit, or tips on making the transition painless!
