A reverse proxy server is a type of proxy server that actually works behind the firewall in a private network. It receives the requests from Internet and forwards those requests to the appropriate servers which are located in a private network. Having a reverse proxy server in action provides an additional level of control to ensure the smooth flow of network traffic between clients and servers.
