I had a look on both dedicated server companies (OVH and SoyouStart ) seem SoyouStart has better pricing but not sure how their quality is. Do you guys try their services? Please give me a review?

Good morning

SoyouStart is the economic brand of OVH

SoyouStart servers are hosted in ovh datacenter, which will have support and infrastructure of OVH at low prices.

If you are looking for prices SoyouStart is the best option

If you are looking for OVH performance is the best option

Blessings

I am wondering why their datacenter is in OVH but its pricing is lower than OVH, it is just start from $42 for a dedicated server/month while OVH is from $69/month

Because all Soyoustart servers are old OVH servers. At ovh.com all dedicated servers use the latest Intel Xeon CPU and technologies. After 1-3 years, old servers a sold at Soyoustart.com, depending on the server components.
The main differences of Soyoustart are :
- 16 IPv4 / server instead of 256 for OVH
- Need to pay for KVM/IP
- 100GB Backup storage instead of 500GB

I used OVH and it is good dedicated provider and a good web hosting control panel
I am not sure about SoyouStart but it has a similar control panel as OVH, that will be a plus.

I would I also take into consideration if these services are managed which I doubt from the low price. I know OVH offer mostly unmanaged services.
If you are not an experienced server administrator and you have problems, you will have no one to turn to for help.

Soyoustart servers are the previous generation used by OVH. So the latest servers are available at OVH then Soyoustart then Kimsufi.
They offer fully unmanaged servers, but the service is the same than OVH. If you haven't enough budget for OVH, you can look at Soyoustart and Kimsufi.

I've had great experiences with Soyoustart when I did a web hosting, I guess it's really good in my perspective, but you can always research for cheaper prices.

used both

had a SoYouStart CA E3-1245v2 32GB 3x120GB SSD server for nearly 2.5+ years solid server

and during recent black friday deals i nabbed a OVH Core i7 4790K 32GB 2x240GB SSD for $47/month solid and fast

never had to use their support much but servers are solid both in Canada

SoYouStart servers can use non-ECC memory and generally have lower bandwidth caps in 250Mbps while OVH has 500Mbps. I like the OVH server admin console/management better than SoYouStart one too.

I'm new here so not entirely sure of the rule of linking to my server's reviews and benchmarks I did ?

This will affect to what on my hosting. I don't really understand the different between 250Mbps and 500Mbps.

It is a good advice, and +1 for this.

I would like to see your benchmarks if you have some, it will be better if you can share benchmarks between same dedicated server plans of OVH and SoYouStart.

No, you should never see the difference. Only file downloading will be faster with OVH, but 250Mbps is enough for a normal usage.

You will never find the same servers with OVH and Soyoustart, but you can check cpubenchmark to have informations about CPU performances.

I saw many dedicated servers there offering 1Gbs, that will be more faster?

The most part of OVH dedicated servers come with 500Mbps guaranteed bandwidth and 1Gbps in burst.
When Soyoustart servers come with 250Mbps guaranted bandwidth.

Here a speedtest performed from an OVH dedicated server :

And another one from a Soyoustart server :

But in almost all usage, it will not make a big difference.

depends on what you use the server for i.e. remote backups and that would matter for backup speed

If you have servers reviews and benchmarks without direct affiliation, you can post them here.
OVH and SoYouStart don't have affiliate programs but the page's ads my so guess can't :)

not same servers so no identical at all

If you can choose, which plan you will want?

I want to have a dedicated server shared with my friend, I will spend a half of money for one of two these packages but I don't know which one is better.

HOST-32L has a slower cpu but you can benefit from DDR4 and 1Gbps speed, instead of soyoustart one you will get 250Mbps. Soyoustart uses second hand of hardwares while ovh use first hand. So if you think 250Mbps speed is ok for you then go for soyoustart 6c/12threads.

E5 has higher L2 cache and L3 Cache . Per core speed is faster then XeonD . I would prefer E5 here .

Xeon-D has good performance for per watts basis . Power is lesser . More environment friendly. Newer technology, ready for 10G Network in future.

After going through lots of comment, I would say it's hard to differentiate between Soyoustart vs OVH as both offer robust services. I can share my experience on Soyoustart and OVH module as it helped me to resell the OVH VPS and dedicated server immediately. It helped me auto provision servers without logging into OVH account. So I would say that Instead of comparing you can opt for the module that can help you seamlessly.

No module would help you without having an account with a company. Furthermore, soyoustart is a OVH company selling a second hand hardwares and capped network to 250Mbps, they do have the third hands hardware with even cheaper prices which is kimsufi and capped network at 100Mbps. The only bad by ovh is that their support is really slow as hell compared to hetzner, considering the fact that we are in 2023/24 the 100Mbps-250Mbps that they provide is really bad, nowadays almost every one has at home the network speed the same or double of what they offer.
