Did you custom design your site or use a template? I would love to get a custom designed site but will have to wait until I make some money. Just curious what others feel about this.

It's not big deal if you use template (customized css, pics etc. or not) many starters use it. I read somewhere tutorial that suggest to take some templates from themeforest and later to get some custom site.

I'm for template if you don't have enough for custom website.

Templates can be decent and many very large providers use them. But if you know PHP HTML CSS I would suggest you make the site yourself, using a framework such as bootstrap it's really quite simple. Just never been a fan of templates myself.

Custom designed site is more expensive than an existed site template, If you know about web design, you should buy a template that selling on the internet and change them to make them unique and more different.

I used both cases, bought theme from themeforest, templatemonster, elegantthemes and sometimes I designed some if they was for small sites and i could finish a template for some days.

Current website, custom built. However the first website we ever had for our business (some 15 years ago) was a basic template. If you are confident in your business plan and how you plan to convert your visitors into sales, going with a custom solution is definitely the way to go and worth the investment. Templates (unless you plan on doing some customizing) are always going to be limited by nature.

You can make your own template pretty easy if you put in the time to learn HTML CSS PHP. It's not that hard to learn these technologies if you have a little time. Arch Hosting started out with a modified paid template, and recently moved to a fully custom template to start off 2017.

WE did a custom design on our website.

I think people can pick out a template from a mile off. Personally i prefer a custom built design opposed to a template however there are some nice templates out there and there are big companies using templates.

But its customs design for us all the way

Some templates ( from themeforest etc ) look great, with a few tweaks, would look like a custom website for many. That would be the best way to go on a budget

Currently, I'm using the WebHoster theme for my WHMCS installation

I always prefer custom designs. But it's not all that matters. It's pointless to give a lot of money for a unique design, if the content isn't good enough. Of course, if a person is limited by budget, there are many nice templates they may use.

I have a pretty good blog, but I used a template that I've actually edited after I got it. There are a lot of templates out there that can fit everything you need and want, you just have to look for them and the good thing is that they come in all types of forms, you have minimalistic ones, detailed ones 2 columns, 3 columns and so on.

Custom design is always preferable. If you have pretty knowledge of design(HTML, CSS or PHP), purchase a template from template seller sites i.e ThemeForest and customize your design bu your self. I have also done the same task by myself. But if you don't have that type of knowledge and also enough money for developers, use just a template. Custom design is important for branding. But initially you can use templates.

I guess when you have a nice budget for that and you like things easier for you, you should just do with the template since it will save you more time to do other things. But if you have the creative side and you dont mind about the time you're gonna spend creating your own, you should take the chance on customizing your own. As for mine, I'm too lazy so I have had the templates. Quick and easy!

Honestly! I use Templates for free, I know it's not unique to design your web using Templates but for me it's affordable and you can start your own business without money in your pocket. And Custom design It's expensive, If you are web signer why not you make your own custom design in your web if you know that. I think being designer you should learn that thing in a years.

Templates are good for beginners or someone that is short on time. I have been there too when i test sites i use templates all the time. If you have money then you can hire the right skills to make you the designs that you want. If not then you can just stick with free templates there are a lot of them right now.

Actually, I used a free template on WordPress, I found a lot of them that worked better with what I wanted to work with on my website. I did not know how to make one and it was quite easily done on the free template.

I use templates and I customized them like I change the colors and I personalize the fonts and etc (using HTML and CSS) It doesn't really matter as long as the site looks great and the content is cool then it's fine :)

I use a template and customise it to look unique, from using snippets from Bootsnipp and other things, custom colours and menus etc. I'm hoping to get a new design which will be custom but it is expensive.

I used half template and customized the rest. I used a template for certain angles of the layout but customized how I wanted them to bend, stretch or fold in and out upon the page being opened. I also customized the ad slots and navigation bar as well.

If you are familiar with the coding then go with the custom design. There you can define your custom CSS and can design everything as per your choice.

Without taking much efforts, there are number of free and paid templates available. You can use them. You will just have to replace the contents and images in the templates.

It will be time consuming if you will go with the template.
