How long was it before you got your first customer?

How long was it before you got your first customer? I know this depends greatly on how much advertising you do. Maybe give me an idea of how you got the customer. I.e. using solely Adwords and forum advertising.

With any business, your first customer is most likely going to be some under the roof of where you live, and then someone close like a friends or family. From there, word of mouth will be your best tool to gain friends of friends, and such advertising will cost you nothing.

A second option...go to the busiest part or your city, and visit businesses door to door asking if they need new hosting. You can also team up with a web designer and make it a package deal. Many businesses are still running websites and using hosting from almost 20 years ago.

When I started my first hosting business it was about 3 months before I got my first client, I still remember almost falling out my chair when I got the order notification email

I believe they came from a forum advertisement.
If you are looking to get rich quick sorry but it's not going to happen, you should look at your business as a mountain you build a few rocks at a time over many years.

It took about 2 days tops to get my very first customer a few years back ended up spending about $400.00 and not runs his own company and is no longer reselling any products, I still keep in touch from time to time to see how he's doing.

If I remember correctly, I had signed up for a lead generation service (dont remember the service as this was some 15 years ago) and getting the first client took roughly about 2 months.

We had actually bought over several companies to start off with. The remaining and constant customer flow is from adverting.

Yeah it really depends on your advertising. When you create an online business, nobody will know your website even exists until you let them know or they find out their selves or through a friend.
