I am running WHM/cPanel on Centos 6.8 but I read that it is better if I have CloudLinux on my hosting, is it correct?
on CloudLinux site, they are offering $14 / 1 license, Should I buy it or using free OS like Ubuntu, Centos or Debian? when do I need to have CloudLinux? please share your advice!

The main feature of Cloudlinux is the users/websites isolation. That mean if one website has too much traffic, it will be down instead of making all your websites slow.
But if you are using your server for yourself, I'm not sure if it's really needed

CloudLinux is better as @VirtuBox said for isolation and virtualization.
If I'm correct you need only if you provide hosting, specially with OpenVZ.

CloudLinux is best for Shared Hosting Providers as in sometimes a website need too much resources or some websites gets much traffic to control them Cloudlinux can be used to provide limiting resources which provides stability of resources. And the OS is highly customized. But if your website is single and hosted on Dedicated Server then it does not need CloudLinux as OS. Furthermore you can get Cloudlinux at cheaper price with your provider or external license provider like LicensePal which is @11.95 USD

Cloudlinux actually set restriction on cPanel user from using high resources on server. If you are getting to much issues with server high load and customer started reporting that their site is loading slow , I think that time you need CloudLinux to control resource usage. Till that time enjoy cPanel / whm and learn as much as you can with cPanel and its scripts.

cPanel and DirectAdmin integrate well with CloudLinux. Both of which have custom modules specifically for CloudLinux.

Even Plesk is compatible with Cloudlinux and works fine in many servers we manage.

Simply Installing cloudlinux wont do any good other than resource limiting . If you want isolation of all users, then you should install CageFS along with Cloudlinux (which is having no extra cost ) but most people are not aware of the cagefs importance. Cloudlinux is good for shared hosting where there are chances for domains abusing the entire server resources and with cloudlinux you ca n limit each website , number of entry process, Virtual Memory and Physical memory and CPU . Combination of Cloudlinux + CageFS is a good protection which will restrict the hacked / resource abusive accounts to cause harm of other accounts in a server.

Hope this helps.

CloudLinux is only needed when you are hosting many sites on the servers.
I would only switch to CloudLinux if you feel one of your sites is over using it's fair share of resources.

If you are going to be hosting only one site, or just very few, I would suggest going for a free alternative control panel that does not use as much resources and covers your basic needs with possibility of extending in the future such as http://ajenti.org/
