To tell you the truth, It only take a week for me to make online money. Yes, it does sounds strange but it is the truth. The very first time I worked online for the purpose of making money was using my friends account. Means, I worked for my friends and he payed me back within a week. So, I count it as my first online money making.

It really depends on the individual. I know people who have spent over two years and have just started to make good money. Others were born with a silver spoon in their mouth and became an overnight sensation. But if your not making money online don't be discouraged. A man's greatness is not determined by his wealth, education, background, status or his achievements. It is determined by how much it takes to discourage him.
Anyone can make money online but you must have a positive outlook. Being negative will only hold you back.

Definitely true right there.
I have even had periods where my income source went completely dry so I basically had to start from scratch. And that can happen unexpectedly in the Internet game. However, staying positive and preparing for these challenges ahead of time helps rebound from the ups and downs.

I don't think I made more than $100 my entire first year that I tried to build an online business for myself. Even after that, I made peanuts (a few hundred dollars per month at best) with my online business pursuits for years (at least 3 years I would say, probably longer).

When I finally discovered a business model that fit me, I discovered it by accident. Once I discovered that, my income went up drastically and very quickly. But there is no way I could have executed that business model very well until I had gathered that combined knowledge and experience that my first few years taught me.

The vast majority of people I have met through my online endeavors (which is numerous) also earned very little money for more than a year. I have met people who have been at it for more than 6 years and still not managed to earn more than about $100 per month. And they aren't stupid people. They just haven't found a method that they enjoy doing that also generates decent revenue.

Even when I launch new projects now, those projects aren't really profitable for the first six months or so. After that is when they begin to start earning. But that is because of my business model and the methods I use.

I honestly can't imagine any person (except a tiny fraction of 1% of people perhaps) actually starting out from scratch on the internet with zero experience and earning anything remotely close to decent money (more than $1000 per month) within their first 6 months. It simply isn't going to happen. If they say they did it faster than that, then they are either lying, or they had someone give them a system or else they aren't counting a lot of the actual time they spent learning about how to make money online.

If you start out knowing nothing about how to do business online at all and you know nothing about how to make money online at all, it will take you a long time (probably more than a year) to learn enough to piece together some kind of viable business model. If you expect it to happen for you faster than that and you believe in that law of attraction "Secret" bullshit.... then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell you. Heck, I'll throw in my ocean front property in Arizona for free if you buy the bridge.

It depends on your hard work and knowledge you have.
Sometimes people start working hard without gaining proper knowledge.
So you have to work hard and learn new tactics on regular basis.
Don't rely on time, simply work hard and learn. :D

It depends upon the niche you use to target and how fast traffic come to the website, less competition there than website will rank quickly than it will make you money fast.

I made my first couple hundreds in a few months, but that was because I started at the right moment in a good affilliate market and when it was easy to rank in Google with a exact domain name.
Later on It took me more then 12 months to get other business models working.
I think the most imporatant is that you do not be discouraged and keep discovering what works for you.

It depends what you mean by "make money online". I made my first few hundreds like 2nd day of working online, when a client of mine has pre-paid for my services.
But it's still not good enough for full time income..

My website is brand new and it took me 3 weeks to make my first $50. I'm going to scale it up. I'm new to SEO but I love it.

Hey there,

It took me around that time (6 months) to make my first dollar online.

To be honest, I could've made money quicker by offering people free training and when the time comes that they need to buy certain things offer to purchase through my affiliate link, but I really wanted to make my money hands-free.

Even though it technically is "making money online" what I got online to do is to be able to generate money without having to be there in other words "Automate" my business and that's what took me 6 months.

I took around 4 months to learn everything and understand the lingo, but the other 2 months was me actually having a website built and directing traffic to it and having that lead to my followup series which eventually made a sale.

I feel like a lot of people can make a sale, but the hard part is putting in $1 and making $2. I can spend $100 on marketing and make only $20 in a sale... So once I stuck to free advertising and built up enough money to hire specialist who can maximize my conversions in my email followup series that helped out a lot!

That's just me though, if you are by chance reading this and didn't make a dollar yet and it's been 6 months or even a year just keep working! One of the worst things I did was compare my success to others saying they made money in 6 months so that means I should too! NO! That's a terrible mindset.

Just stick to free advertising if you don't have the money upfront to pay for specialist grind it out in the beginning to make enough sales to pay for a sales copywriter or what have you and then once everything is fully optimized then you can focus on putting in $1 and making $2 by the forms of paid advertising.

Hope that helps :)

Adam

P.S. Cool Thread!

It took me many years to make just $1 profit. Once when I was making clickbank commissions I made $2700 in affiliate commissions but I spent a whopping $5000 on adwords so that means I really didn't make anything, in fact I lost $2300 but it got me motivated since people were buying through my link I just got crushed by the high cost of advertising and back then I didn't know of any other paid traffic source except adwords which we all know can be expensive.

Everyone's journey will be different you just have to have a never say die attitude if you want to make it. If you give up on yourself and your dreams you will have screwed yourself over big time. You'll be like "I knew this make money online stuff was fake", "I knew this work from home stuff was a scam", etc, etc. If you give up on owning your own business what are your choices - to work for someone else and put up with a measly paycheck for the rest of your life. That sounds very scary to me. I need to be my own boss.
