I seem to be suffering from "Information Overload!"
I have been told and have seen several tactics for building up my email list. I don't trust 70% of them because they are trying to sell me a product that has mixed reviews. The other 30% are telling me to post on FB and tweet on Twitter to get the list built. FB and Twitter have been used to pieces by marketers so are not as effective as they once may have been (imho).
If anyone has a Real way to do this, please, Please share it with me. If you believe that you have found the proverbial "Golden Egg", I will share it with only with trusted individuals.
My niche is a blog about bringing honesty back to Internet Marketing. I chose this niche because everywhere I look I see people that have been taken advantage of by sleazy scammers.
I appreciate any and all help on building a list.

Here is how to build a list in a nutshell.

1) Find something or create something that you think/know a specific type of audience will want.
2) Create an offer to give that to them for free if they join your list.
3) Go find that audience online and tell them them that you are offering that "thing" that they want in exchange for their email address.

You can use any number of methods to make your offer to people. Having a website of some kind is a popular way of doing it. It is a great way to do it if your website attracts the exact same audience that you want to make your offer to and if your offer very closely targets the hot buttons of that audience.

hi EricB, i am novice in online marketing system but when i read your post i won't stop my self to share my idea with you. I don't know whats your business but first you start a website where you people can find lots of offers, deals, coupons. i mean, build a simple discount-bank where people can find lots of website's offers. then you can introduce your website in this type of forum, fb, twitter. Be 100% sure about that, people must click and subscribed their email. this is the process where you can find lots of email address and simultaneously you have a website where lots people will come daily and you should earn by those websites affiliate link.

I hope this idea will be helpful to you. Thanks & All The Best:clap:

Hi Eric. I've been there. Seems too many interweb ninja gurus just want you to spend loads of money on their products. I try to point people in the direction of free or cheap options knowing that most people are inherently lazy or don't necessarily have a load of spare cash to 'invest'.
Traffic generation to build a list is a constant battle you have to maintain - it doesn't just involve a few clicks and then forget.
You've probably been given too much advice in one go. Chill - then look at some cheap or free options to build your list.

According to me, You should Write some quality and helpful articles in your niche which can generate result. When you will start providing result orienting content to your readers then they will automatically trust on your site.
As the trust towards your site will increase, You will see that people are subscribing to your blog.
BUT keep in your mind that your blog should have quality posts with some real world examples and proofs. :D

Traffic can come from visitors to your website that sign up to your list but you need something really awesome that they can't do without for your freebie. Don't give away crap but give people something that makes them want to hear from you again and come to your site. Also if you have funds there is paid traffic to consider to help you get subscribers to your list.

It all takes time and hard work

Hey Eric!

I'd suggest not buying any form of advertising unless you know that you have a followup sequence that will convert $2 every time you put $1 in.

You especially don't need any kind of products showing you how to advertise..

I'd say this...

Stick to forum marketing (if you don't know what that is Google/YouTube it) It's a SUPER-Powerful technique. Unfortunately it is a hands on form of advertising so it's not going to do itself unless you are there to manually answer peoples questions on forums, but I've got it to the point where I got 20 subs a day from this method! People have claimed to get 50, but I don't really feel like spending every waking hour to grind out replies (even though I love doing it!)

So I would stick to that one method then once you have enough money from sales you generated that way you can then hire a specialist email copywriter who can write you up a sequence that converts fantastically! Don't pick any cheap ones, you usually get what you pay for (they usually run $50-$100/hr I found, but I just ask them how much for a 10ish email followup sequence).

So once you did your free advertising and paid the guy I then suggest starting out small with solo ads. You NEED to find a good provider in your niche that actually has a real and responsive list. You want to make sure if you buy solo ads for $100 you end up making $101 once everyone gets to the end of your funnel. If not you need to do some adjustments.

Once you did a couple small solo ads and it's consistently making you more money than what your buying the solo ads for you can then ramp up the solo ads and make bigger and bigger purchases.

That's my method for growing my list..

Hope this was kind helpful in some way or another :)

Okay, my suggestion, according to gurus, building a list is building your business to last for years. Effective ways are up to you, some ways may work for them but no to you, it's a matter of trying and tweaking your system. Although here is one of the fastest way:

Create a squeeze page. - given

Create a giveaway content-ebook, video, audio content. - given

Create an email sequence for followup through an autoresponder.

Find or create a complimentary product to offer in the backend- maybe your own 70-page full pack content value, or an affiliate offer. a tripwire in short, priced between $7-$37, this is to cover your cost for your setup, you wanna break even to make sure that the list you are building is valuable.

Traffic? Paid- Solo ads- targeted traffic. test small and scale up. You might want to buy as little as 50-100 clicks first to test the list, if it is a good fit to your offer. If it works you might want to scale up and buy some 300-700 clicks.

Free traffic- ad swaps, clickbanking, and SEO- it takes time. If you have a significant list size. Ultimately, they say the best way to build a list is product launching, recruit affiliates, invite partners and jv's. If you can invite 10 partners with say 5,000 list each, and their list converted at 2% sales = pure estimate, just for numbers purposes, that is 100 buyers per partner x 10= 1000 pure buyers list added to your list, and potential jv partners for the next coming months and years. And of course, while you continue to buy solo traffics and other forms paid ads.

A bit long, but that is what they do! :dancing2:

Hey Eric!

Great to see you're learning about this stuff! Unfortunately, but fortunately at the same time.. there are many different ways you can go about this.

My 2 favorites are that have been there for me through thick and thin has been Forum marketing & Solo Ads. In my honest opinion I believe you should stick with free advertising ways until you get a few sales and see what your conversion rate is like.

That way you can know out of how many clicks you'll understand how many people subscribe and out of the subscribers how many people buy.

That information is crucial for you to break even in your autoresponder. You're autoresponder should make at least as much money as what you spent on a specific advertisement. Then you can do followups with additional "higher end" or recurring billing to really start "making" money.

Basically a Solo Ad is just paying a person who has a giant email list already in your niche to provide you with a number of clicks that you ordered.

There is a place on Facebook where you can do this it's called "Solo Ad Testimonials" or you can just use Google and find people. The key here is to find a GREAT seller one who really over delivers and has a high converting list.

I'm in the Internet Marketing niche and personally I use Justin with Justinssoloads.com and he's great (that's just my recommendation if you're in the "making money online" niche, but they're many others).

Forum marketing is actually what I am doing right now ;)

If you look below this post you'll see a thing called a signature where you can click on the link below and it takes you to my squeeze page to signup for my email list. And it's completely free!

If you go to forums about your niche and really help out people in your comments you can gain A LOT of subscribers completely free by just investing some of your time throughout the day (VERY powerful stuff!)

To get a better understanding you can always go on YouTube and just search up "What is a solo ad?" or "What is forum marketing?" (I'm more of a visual learner so this helps me out the most)

Anyways those are my 2 favorite ways: Forum Marketing & Solo Ads.

Remember: I'd suggest sticking to the free ways until you understand how many people actually go on to purchase your products (or affiliate products) in your followup sequence. But if you have the money the less stress way is to go with solo ads..

Hope this helped :)

Take care, Adam

I have been using solo ads mostly to build my list. Like other already said having a great squeeze page and a great giveaway and a killer follow up sequence is neccessary to get yourself on the road to building trust with your subscribers. For solo ads I have been using udimi.com which was part of safe-swaps.com but they moved theri solo ads platform to udimi and safe-swaps is for adswaps. Solo ads are great but they are not free. So if you have money to burn you should sign up there and give it a try. Adswaps is where you and another list owner send out each others emails to their list to help each other gain subscribers and this method is free but you will need approx 1000 people on your list to get started with safe-swaps.com

I also just this week discovered clickonomy.com where you can get solo ads. This site is owned by a top marketer and looks very interesting and I will be trying them out soon.

So it really depends on you money situation can you buy solos with no problem or do you need to do the free methods because you are strapped for cash. If money is not an issue for you I would do solo ads and then adswaps later.
