SSL is Best Encryption Technology, Which allows the user to use open the website in secured mode by using HTTPS. The Website based Business will be in need of tested and authenticated SSL to accept the secured user personal data and Financial credentials.
Where as Invalid or Unassigned SSL certificates causes the less traffic on website, leads some browsers to stops direct links on those websites by showcasing the fatal error on all the website pages.
Updates of SSL is important, as The authorized SSL will work on all the browsers and gains good traffic.

Your post does not explain why SSL is important, only what it is. Could you explain a bit more in-depth?

Yes, it Defines the SSL and its effect on business. The Invalid SSL will result in less traffic on Online business Website.For instance, the Invalid or expired SSL leads to the whole website go down or showcases the Warning Messages on pages. The Valid or updated SSL for your Website works for al most all Browsers from where you can get many hits to your websites.

With most of others, SSL is a needed for ecommerce website.

With me, it's good because it's a search engine ranking factor in Google.

SSL is an end-to-end web encryption method that protects websites and customers from such attacks as man-in-the-middle attacks that could result in customers credit card information being stolen. It is a requirement of any payment processor to have a SSL certificate in place on your website.

The Valid or updated SSL for your Website works for al most all Browsers from where you can get many hits to your websites.
I have also never seen a SSL certificate generate more traffic to a website!

One thing for sure SSL will not generate more traffic... If you are collecting personal information such as address, credit card details etc. then it matters such as ecommerce sites on payment related pages ONLY... Otherwise there is absolutely no need for it... It is not a major ranking factor and as mentioned it is only applicable in certain scenarios relating to sensitive data capture...

An SSL certificate ensures safe and secure medium of submitting your private information to the web. It is designed to protect the integrity of data while it is being transmitted between one system and another. SSL certificate enables the browser and Web server to build a secure, encrypted connection so that submission of credit card information, email address, or other personal data would be securely transmitted and not accessible for anyone to view. SSL certificate is essential when your hosted website is e-commerce or involved in online financial transactions. Websites having SSL certificates installed can gain more confidence of visitors and keep them coming again.

Very well explained how SSL certificates works, I was left hanging with the other explanations since they were not elaborate. Seems its important to have it on mostly e-commerce website or other sites where you are required to leave you personal details.

The primary reason why SSL is used is to keep sensitive information sent across the Internet encrypted so that only the intended recipient can understand it. This is important because the information you send on the Internet is passed from computer to computer to get to the destination server. Any computer in between you and the server can see your credit card numbers, usernames and passwords, and other sensitive information if it is not encrypted with an SSL certificate. When an SSL certificate is used, the information becomes unreadable to everyone except for the server you are sending the information to. This protects it from hackers and identity thieves.

SSL don't guarantee to 100% hacking protection but SSL is still important for a website.

1. First of all with SSL the Trust or Value will increase of your website with clients/visitors.
2. SSL will increase your page ranking/SEO.
3. SSL is important if your website do accept payment or payment related things.

I have heared people saying before that the main reason they use SSL is chrome, the fact the the lock turns from green to gray bothers some people or that https gets crossed over with a red line. However this is more a case of personal satisfaction :eek:fftopic:

SSL is the backbone of our secure Internet and it protects your sensitive information as it travels across the world's computer networks. SSL is essential for protecting your website, even if it doesn't handle sensitive information like credit cards. It provides privacy, critical security and data integrity for both your websites and your users' personal information.

* SSL Encrypts Sensitive Information
* SSL Provides Authentication
* SSL Provides Trust
