I have two options

Option 1. 40 x 500 words article
Option 2. 20 x 1000 words article

Which one, do you prefer? why?

Also my question is, how long should your blog post be?

To begin with article length/word count is not a ranking factor! What matters is the quality of the article with helping your readers when they arrive at your website... Shorter articles may not provide the depth and detail to answer questions which a reader has and as a result they may head back to G for other search results... Hence impacting bounce rates... But again its down to quality and it would be silly to assume that a longer article is of better quality...

My preference if I had to choose between the two would be option 2.... That's with the full intent on having the best and most informative article on a given topic... Further I would use a silo to interlink related content on semantic relations on keywords which helps with on-page SEO...

Either way option 1 is okay too... Provided all articles have been written with the intent of being original quality content...

Hope that helps! Best of luck!

Cheers,

Sid

Just as long as the article covers everything that the reader expects to get when they arrive on the page, it could be 500 or 1000, it doesn't matter. What you should ask yourself is how many words will you need to cover the topic or subject you want to write about, if you can do it in 250 words then that's fine as well.

But the main point here is that it doesn't matter how many words you use.

Doesn't matter on the words, BUT the more valuable the info you give your readers is, the more it gets shared. Obviously something that really helps someone is going to be a lengthier post, not in all situations, but in most.

This also provides more space for LSI and relevance.

Also, imbed a video on the page no matter how long the content is. This will retain a low bounce rate.

Cheers
