Article marketing is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get traffic to a brand new website. It's used both by beginning marketers and by multi-million dollar companies.

What is article marketing? How does it work? Let's go over a broad overview of the basics.

  • How It Works

The term "article marketing" actually encompasses a pretty wide range of different techniques. In the broadest sense, any time you're distributing articles with a link back to your website for the purposes of SEO, branding or traffic, you're using article marketing.

Article marketing, when done well, can consistently drive hundreds if not thousands of visitors to your site. Because you're getting more backlinks, you'll also rank better in the search engines. Finally, because people keep seeing your name on different sites all over the net, you'll build your brand.

  • Why Put Articles on Other People's Sites?

Why put articles on other people's websites, instead of on your own? There are a few reasons.

First of all, if your site is relatively new, it doesn't yet have the weight and reputation that some of these other sites have. Other sites already have backlinks, longevity and reputation.

In other words, the same article that might rank in the top five on someone else's site may not rank at all when it's placed on your site, simply because your site doesn't pull the same weight (yet).

Also, if you get your article on someone else's website in your industry, you get to tap into their existing reader base and existing base of traffic.

Finally, the one-way backlinks you get by writing articles for others can make a big different in your rankings.

  • The Process from A to Z

The process of article marketing usually looks something like this:

First, you start with a title or keyword that you want to target. The title is attention catching, designed to get people from search engines or other people's sites to click on the article. The keyword should also be carefully chosen to maximize search engine traffic.

You write the article, doing whatever research you need throughout the process. The final article should be at least 400 words long, preferably as long as 1,000 words.

The article is then submitted to other site(s). These can be sites of other bloggers, other industry websites or just article directories.

Once your article gets ranked, you'll start to see a consistent flow of traffic coming in from the articles and from search engines.

That's an overview of the overall process. Of course, each segment has its own quirks and challenges. For example, how do you choose a good keyword? How do you get someone to click on the link to your website? How do you get other bloggers to let you write on their blogs?

Ok let me answer your questions:
What are the conditions to select websites to put my articles on?
  • It will have to be related to what you are talking about obviously.
  • It will have to accept guest posts, or submit your articles to EzineArticles, ArticleCity, etc. linking back to your website.
  • It will have to be either high ranked on Google or be receiving high amounts of traffic.

How to choose a suitable website that good for putting articles ?
There are 2 ways I can tell you right now.
  1. Submitting your articles directly to Article directories as I mentioned above.
  2. Surfing the web with something like ''niche or keyword + guest post''.

How many articles I should request to put on their site, one site each article or more?
You will be submitting only one, if your relationship with the blog owner gets better and he/she likes your posts you can request to submit another article later on. If you are using Article directories then it will depend on the site itself, some let you submit 10 with free membership or as trial, others let you submit unlimited articles (most of them are with membership).

I hope this answers all of your questions, please let me know if there is anything else you want to know :)

Jonathan

Personally I would stay away from article directories... Those have been blasted out of the SERPs... For example when was the last time you saw an article directory such as eZine ranking on the SERPs? They don't as G has hit them hard... The few that have survived such as eZines only allow for nofollow links and as such are useless...

The problem with article directories that these links are easy to get and are an obvious indicator that such links are efforts to manipulate the SERPs.... In worst cases it will contribute to you getting a penalty such as penguin as a lot these article directories are seen as "bad neighbourhoods"... My best advice is to forget it...

I would only use them as part of tiered link building on lower tiers i.e. tier 2 and below with using tools such as GSA SER/SE Nuke/Xrumer etc... But that is a different topic...

What counts is if you can get a guest post on a blog which has traffic and shows reasonable to good authority metrics e.g. DA/PA/CT/TF etc... You will need to contact the web owner privately with your offer to post your guest article...

One important bit of advice... Watch your anchor text profile when it comes to your backlinking profile... I would keep your commercial anchors at around 10-15% with the rest made up of variations as well as generic words such as "click here" or branding/urls etc... That way your profile will stay under the radar with regards to penguin....

Tools you can use to measure website authority: Majestic, MOZ as well as G's keyword planner tool with estimating keyword traffic with 1st position approx 30-40% of exact match stats.. You could also try Alexa for some traffic indication (personally not a fan of Alexa)... There are lots of tools - the ones mentioned here provide free options...

On that note best of luck!

Cheers,

Sid
