What are main reasons to use whmcs? I read many posts on this forum and some mentioned to WHMCS but I don't really know what it is and what it is besing used for.

As others have stated when selling web hosting publicly a billing system is an absolute must. It doesn't, however, have to be WHMCS.

We use Blesta but there's lots of others:

-Clientexec
-Hostbill
-PowerPanel
-Ubersmith
-Boxbilling

My team is using the same WHMCS and yes it really user-friendly.
One can easily handle it and that also with lots of features for billing . managing customer details ,ticketing system and many more.

If you intend to sell domain names and web hosting, you need a billing system and WHMCS is one such billing system. There are other billing system that are equivalently good such as Clientexec and Blesta. WHMCS is owned by cPanel and has a good development and upgrade path, so it makes it more stable and reliable.

WHMCS is not really for selling tangible goods, it is mostly for selling digital goods and services (ie. hosting services, software/games licences accounts, web design services, domain names, etc...) and supporting them (tech support) + managing the clients and their billing matters (billing management) and yes it is widely compatible with a lot of hosting control panel which makes it a great choice for many !...

I have seen businesses use WHMCS in various ways, from selling goods, outsourcing staff and even consultations. Its a billing software which can be used for more than just webhosting. The main reason for it being so popular is its security, constant updates and quality support, not to mention the price tag which is resonable for the amount of features. There are other options and some are free aswell, however none come close to WHMCS.

if you ask me its a all around win win cms to use. I never had a complaint and they have been extra fast on support. WHMCS is a billing automation it automatically creates accounts within control panels uses multiple billing gateways. put it like this its LOADED!

WHMCS is a hosting billing, support and management automation tool or script. WHMCS is very powerful and it automates most of the tasks that other billing software does not do as good as WHMCS. I have used other software except blesta.

I can say that WHMCS is probabily the best software for hosting businesses. Its my personal opinion from my experience. If you are thinking of starting hosting businesses you have to use a hosting management and automation script like WHMCS.

WHMCS works best for CPanel / WHM based control panel and Linux based server.

I'd say its safe to say that WHMCS is the leader in web hosting automation/billing software. Its easy to use, they regularly release new updates, there are hundreds, if not thousands of addons/plugins for it. And for $15/month, its very affordable.
