Hello guys,

I knew more Off-Page SEO Techniques through useful articles on forum but I don't know which is the best best Off-Page SEO techniques that I should follow on and spend more time on it than others?

I thought they are quality backlinks and social media shares, it's right?

I'll appreciate all honest answers.

Thanks,
JD

Hi JD,

With off-page SEO you need to assess the risk you are willing to take... e.g.

Least Risky:
- Social Media engagement etc
- Video Marketing
- Guest Posting (aim for high authority sites)

Medium Risk:
- PBNs - buy old domains, resurrect content and add your link..
- Buy links/posts on authority sites etc

High Risk:
-Use tools like GSA, SENuke, Xrumer to create backlinks...

With backlinks you need to be careful as to your footprints as G will use this to determine if you are attempting to game the SERPs.... So be careful with creation velocity, the anchor text, dofollow vs. nofollow links etc... I would say keep backlinking below 10% of your traffic stats per month as G has a good idea of traffic on your site from the serps as well as keeping the ratio of commercial anchors to be around 10% with the rest made up with long tail variations, branding as well as generic words like "click here" etc... That way you keep under the radar and minimize the potential for a penalty...

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Sid

With video marketing - I would create and upload videos which target keywords through a detailed description and use of keyword tags... Also look at the best ranking videos and examine the title, description and use the source code to examine the keyword tags.. Compile a list and use them to help form your title/description, keyword tags as then your videos can also be listed as a related one...

In addition you can also approach the account holders of high ranking videos to add a link i.e. offer to pay or give commission as well as commenting on related videos... A great suggestion by Nytshade ;-)

That said don't stop at one video - put them on to many video sharing sites as well as on multiple accounts with different titles, descriptions etc... Here is a list of video sharing sites:

  • Youtube
  • Vimeo
  • Daily Motion
  • Metcafe
  • Blip.TV
  • Blinkx

Video sites - especially Youtube can rank really quickly on the SERPs... Always make sure to add your link in the description as well as in your video as a reference for more info....

With guest posting.. Look for websites within related niche that are ranking well, which have lots of traffic... In otherwords have authority metrics which back it up... Approach the web owner and offer them a guest article.. You could also offer to pay or provide a commission on sales if your website is sales related etc.... Only go for sites which are not spammy with obvious paid links etc.... The benefit of authority sites when done right/identified correctly will be that it provides traffic as well as a great backlink with link juice boosting your rankings....

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Sid

My advise would be to stay away from off-page seo. At the moment PBNs (private blog networks) when done the right way, are working to increase website rankings. But the problem with PBNs is that it's not a long term strategy because once Google finds a way around this you'll have to find another loophole.

You'll keep chasing loophole after loophole, this stuff gives you sleepless nights and you work 10x harder trying to make things safe and not exposing yourself to Google and you could be using that time to do other things that can improve your business.

The best and long term strategy is social signals and organic backlinks (let others build backlinks for you), that's the best off-page optimization.

Well said buddy...PBN is always risky, when you are doing SEO for long run. You might get instant ranking by PBN, but once Google catch it, then you will be nowhere.

I'm afraid 2 out of the 4 are not effective and leads to obvious footprints with G's algo detecting ranking manipulation... Its 2015 and not 2008....!!! I personally do not bother with social bookmarking and directory submissions.... If you are into tiered backlinking then I would only consider that on the very lowest tiers e.g. tier 3 and beyond....

Its because of outdated info many people will continue to engage on methods which can harm your rankings.... As I mentioned think very carefully when creating backlinks wrt your online footprint... You will see the backlinks which are easy to create, tend to be the ones which have been spammed to death, leave obvious footprints and ultimately can lead to ranking loss or worst case algorithmic penalty such as penguin...

The worst of the worst are supposed SEO companies which provide such outdated crap....

Re: Off-Page SEO Tactics

JD,

Natural off-page SEO can be something like creating link-worthy onsite content and enticing your viewers (in your content) to share your onsite content (and not give you backlinks, since many of them'd most likely be giving you backlinks anyway when they share your onsite content) across their social networks, in their own blogs / sites and in other online places where they hang out; and

Based on our tests for our clients (tech-FAQ.Com among other multimedia-rich sites in various niches) -- Guest posting and content syndication, when done right, can also generate positive Google SERP movement. Here's how to do this:

1. Divide your target exact match and long tail keywords into three categories. These are generic, branded and commercial. Then:

• Divide those keywords into two main groups. These are your primary keywords and your secondary keywords. Now:
• Use your primary keywords for your onsite content, onsite internal and external link anchors; and
• Use your secondary keywords for your offsite content and offsite backlink anchors...

NOTE: Keep in mind to use, for onsite and offsite content and link anchors, generic keywords around 50 to 60% of the time, branded keywords around 25 to 35% of the time, and commercial keywords 15 to 25% of the time; and

NOTE: Also keep in mind to point your backlinks around 60% of the time to your homepage, around 30% of the time to your inner pages, and around 10% of the time to your other pages (static pages and category pages)...

2. Identify your offsite content and backlink placement targets. Here's how:

• Use your primary keywords 30% of the time and your secondary keywords 70% of the time in Google and in Bing, in order to find niche-relevant pages with decent to good PA (Page Authority) under sites of various types with decent to good DA (Domain Authority);

NOTE: Use the Moz Open Site Explorer (OSE) to determine the DA and PA of those sites and pages, and if they're dofollow or nofollow;

• Create a pruned list of these sites where you should place your offsite content and backlinks -- This can be around 70% to 80% dofollow and around 20% to 30% nofollow, and around 70% to 80% high DA / PA and around 20% to 30% lower to mid DA / PA; and

3. Strategically place your offsite content and backlinks in natural frequencies. Here's how:

• Directly contact the owners / Webmasters / admins of those sites for possible content syndication and guest posting arrangements from time to time...

NOTES: You can even negotiate other mutually beneficial deals with them, such as banner ad / text link ad / mailing list ad placement arrangements and strategic affiliate partnership agreements with them. You can even actively participate and initiate relevant discussions in those sites and pages before you contact them, in order to improve their responsiveness to your offers (since you'd be a familiar name to them by the time you contact them because of your active participation in their sites). Whenever it'd provide supplemental value to the viewers of those sites and pages (in order for this to look as natural and non-spammy as possible) -- You can even talk about your onsite content and share it across those sites and pages while you're actively participating and initiating relevant discussions in those online places...

That's it for now. Cheers! :)

I suggest content marketing. You can write unique and useful content for your website audience by including targeted keywords. Once you have publish your post (also you can do guest blogging), you can ask people to read and share with thier friends.

This is a good way of earning social links without spamming others profile.

If you are talking about public blog networks, yes I can agree. Waste of time and would never recommend them. With public networks it is not a matter of if they will get caught, but when they will get caught.

However, if you are talking about truly private networks (which people still use the term PBN for), I'm sorry, but this is incredibly misinformed.

With truly private networks, if built right they will never get taken down. I have been teaching people how to do this for years. My network sites are outstanding sites on their own. In fact, many of them are monetized and making money too. The ones that are not, I could easily convert to money sites if I wanted to.

The best and long term strategy is social signals and organic backlinks (let others build backlinks for you), that's the best off-page optimization.
Social signals are not a ranking factor.

Let others backlink to you? The old build and pray method. I hate that. It can work, but it takes a lot of the control out of your hands. You might rank in a few months or it might take years to build up the kind of following that will bring good links.

Sorry, but instead I would rather build the type of sites I want to link to me, and then be in complete control of the links.

Well, I do believe that content is still king and submitting articles and blogs still hold ground for off-page SEO. But obviously you need to submit quality articles (and definitely not spun) in quality sites. Directory submission is no longer useful and SBM will only be useful if you submit to high PR do-follow sites like diigo, folkd, stumbleupon, stoop.id etc. One thing that can work wonders is social posting including a post in Pinterest. A creative post can be very useful in making a site popular and bringing backlinks.

First I'd love to say thanks for everyone here, on this thread....

I went thousand thread of many forums discussion, but this is the most interesting topic and discussion which ever seen.

When talking about off-page optimizing. I found the most of marketers will be talking about backlinks and social media. Of course, it is the most important fact for increase more present.

However, I found that Google did many change and sometimes I though that backlinks is just potential fact of ranking but you must consider other facts as well.

You know..? Recently, I saw the low quality site dropped their rank because the conversion of the page. It may a bit off topic, but I think that it should related something.

Google voted up your article depend on it quality. The social media signal, conversion, and relevant is should the significant facts you should wonder it.

I think other facts were answered above...

Thanks

Most of the time Internet marketers say - Let others build link for you.

What are the chances that some one will share your web page content when you are company and you're talking about your services?

I find it very hard way to do.

I use PBN and guest post to build links and which has really helped me so far.

Link Building, Social Media, Social bookmarking are The most important Off-page seo techniques.
Social Media - does not contribute to ranking on the serps directly. Google does not care about the number of likes, tweets, followers etc... It can be a great source of traffic but it will not improve your ranking position.

Social Bookmarking - these are basically really weak links... Such junk links will not improve your rankings...

Link Building - yes but it depends on the type of link and from where...
