Hi there,

I have a question, I don't know why more websites using a subdomain to host their images

like: images.domain.com

instead of using domain.com/images/

what are the benefits of using images on a subdomain?

please suggest me.

A separate domain prevents your domain's cookies from being sent for every image request, where they're not needed. Reduces the bandwidth overhead for each request. Most browsers will only make a certain number of HTTP requests at one time to a particular domain, so serving images and other static content off a second domain potentially doubles the number of HTTP requests at one time.

Those websites are using subdomains since their Content Delivery Network base storage server is hosted on separate server. If you have a small website and you don't have tons of photos then there is no need to create a sub-domain. However, if you want to use that sub-domain exclusively for hosting multimedia content then you should definitely do that as it saves time and bandwidth.

Subdomain is an extension of a domain. Subdomain can be created completely free and it can act as a real domain. A subdomain is created to decrease domain registration costs as well as help you create multiple websites with different names under the domain name.
