Hi Guys,

I have a new question for all...and i am also looking over the internet for best answer.

Q. How much changing domain effect SEO ?

(e.g. Like anybody does change his domain to abc.com to abc.com/en or any other language, what happen if content would be the same and obviously if content is also different then it would definitely effect SEO.)

Please suggest the best.

thanks

Do you want to change to a new domain name like abc.com to xyz.com ?

or just change internal urls such as abc.com to abc.com/en ?

If you change from abc.com to abc.com/en then you will lose your website ranking (keyword rankings) and PR

Also, after changed, you need to make a redirection in htacess file to announce to search engines bot know your new URL.

And SEO only affect on 2 these pages abc.com and abc.com/en :)

It will definitely affect your ranking. But proper 301 redirects can save most of your ranks. Also you'll have to adjust your preferred domain in Google webmaster tool.

We will see fluctuations in the ranking after any change in domain or index page. We have to make sure everything redirects well and does not have any duplicate issue. It will regain the positions if everything done in a right way.

You will need to use 301 permanent redirect. It will still affect your ranking, but within short time your new website/domain will gain the link juice and ranking back if the redirect is done correctly.
