Hello FW guys,

I'm curious as to how you go about choosing the finest hosting company for you? Using only Google, Bing, or another search engine? What are the decision-making criteria?
The price to value ratio is the most clear. But what if you come across two providers who are exactly the same? : )

Contact their support and ask them a question that needs some knowledge to answer, see which one gives an answer that makes most sense to you.

You can follow these points while you are choosing the best hosting company for you:
-Check the web host’s server uptime record.
-Check if they offer multiple add-on domains.
-Ask about the company’s refund policy.
-Find out what a basic contract offers.
-Check for specialty features.
-Always check the reviews.

Shared hosting is also known as virtual hosting but it is different from virtual private hosting. As defined by its name, shared hosting allows your website to "share" an already existing company's host. A hosting company does not only serve one website from the same server, but they may also host several companies and other sites. One of its advantages is that they are solely responsible for keeping your site up and running. Technical issues, security updates, bandwidth management and other related concerns are their responsibility. The hosting company will be the one to handle any problem and will address bad situations that might occur. The main advantage of this plan is the price. Due to the fact that you are sharing from someone's server, the cost is somewhat lower compared to other hosting services. Its downside would be you have no control over the physical server.

In short shared hosting is ideal for new entrants in online business. You don't have enough to spend and not enough of technical expert to make your online presence possible. Still you will be able to host your website for people across the world to access.

Look for the following to figure out which would be the better host for your website:
  • The average server uptime
  • Addons
  • Renewal rates
  • Quality of their customer support
  • There has to be a difference in what they are offering- so spot the difference.
  • Read the customer reviews. They are more genuine than some expert reviews.

If you are looking for shared hosting, some of the important features to look for are-
1. Uptime rates (should be above 99%)
2. Customer support
3. SSL certificates
4. Bandwidth and disk space provided
5. The number of websites you get in the package.
6. Most importantly- should be affordable and reliable.

The best thing you can do is to ask their customer support about features, price, reliability and many such things.

Hey there!
In my years of experience as a technical support engineer, I've realized that any hosting provider, no matter how big or small, should have a few essential features, such as;
1. Safety & Reliability
When your website goes down, so does your visitor count. Losing visitors means losing money, members, and reputation. You cannot afford even a brief website outage! Instead, find out how many clients they have (the more, the better), whether they have a guaranteed up-time, check for complaints about them online, and ask other users about their experience.
2. Speed
Nobody loves to wait in line for something they want now or yesterday. Starbucks delivers swiftly, and the Starbucks queue goes rapidly. Your visitors will leave if your site loads slowly due to a crowded server or a sluggish network. Make it lightning quick. Test the web host's site and some of their clients' sites.
3. Space
Make sure you have adequate space for your website's needs. Get plenty of webspace.
4. Available Bandwidth
Bandwidth is basically what web pages are. They shut down or charge you extra if you have too much traffic or bandwidth. So that no one consumes up all of the server resources. Ensure your new web host permits you to acquire extra bandwidth if needed.
5. Customer Support
If you have an issue with your web host, you need to be able to contact someone quickly. Inquire about their support hours and how simple it is to contact someone.
6. Features & Technology
Make sure your website has all the choices you need. Examine their control panel, authorized sub-domains, programming language support, databases, and if it runs on Windows or Unix.
7. Payment Plans/Pricing
There are exceptions to every rule, but you generally get what you pay for when it comes to web hosting. Watch out for cheap hosting companies that nickel and dime you for standard features on most hosts.

There are lots of hosting providers out there and it is confusing for you to choose the right one. You don’t want to pay for hosting or have your website down for just one reason. So, what should be your first step? What people do is, surf the web to find the best hosting provider. But, the fact is that there is no such thing as the best hosting provider. They all have their own pros and cons. Your website’s performance, uptime, and response time matter a lot when you are planning to host your website on the internet. Therefore, you need to do your own research and find the best shared hosting package.
