What is managed VPS hosting?

I know managed VPS hosting is my hosting provider will manage hosting for me but how about websites? will they care websites problems? What things do they manage on my VPS hosting? Setup configurations on my server, install software, optimize my VPS server? I would like to know what is a managed VPS hosting in details?

The term "managed VPS" or server is different by each provider. There are not any rules, they have to follow. Therefore you have to read their services description, TOS and ask themself what the management service includes.

Usually, hosters don't manage the websites, if you need such service you should ask your provider. Some hosters can help you to change PHP version and other things, but for ex. they will not update website engine.

Difference between managed server and unmanaged server is as below:

Managed Server: Hosting provider and you both will have access to your servers. Here server security is managed by hosting provider and your application is manged from your end.

Unmanaged Servers: Here you have to manage both your server security and application, as hosting provider will not have any access to your server to manage anything for you.
