Setup fee or not setup fee?

Hello,

I discover my provider is not competitive like a couple years ago, for same server of hetzner cost from 12€ to 35€ at month more.
Now I would like to change provider.
The different my old provider hasnt setup fee
How can I managed it? Also it's different for each server.

I don't like setup fee on any hosting providers, although it is just first time payment, it should be considered as service support from the provider without charging fee for this.

Depends on a number of things, but there should be a first time fee as there is a lot of work going on and time is money for people. After that there should be some level of good support/additional work at no cost, pending the issue.

Most of the SaaS companies do not charge set up fees as they rely on the monthly payments from their customers. If you got a customer for about 5 years then you have easily recovered your setting fee.

If you`re planning to charge the initial set up fee this might change customers mind as the initial cost of acquisition goes high and customer may look for cheaper vendors available in the market.

I would like to ask why there are some providers are asking or requiring for setup fee on their dedicated servers?

@CaygriWEB We have servers that do not have setup fees. None of our Cloud Servers have them. (These are unmanaged cloud servers.) You can also get a dedicated root server (unmanaged) on our Server Auction. These also have no setup fees. However, you will not find any there for €12.

Yes, installation fees are usually set on dedicated servers. For a budget of 12 euros per month and without an installation fee, you need to look towards VPS.
