How can I check email server is working or not via SSH?

Is it possible to check my email server is working or not via SSH without using a email client program to test send/receive emails?

The simplest way is to check the mail server log files.

- Open the log file with tail -f /path/to/log
- Send an email message from another account to an email account using your mail server and watch the logs.
- If you want to test the outgoing traffic, use a command line tool such as mailx

Why don't you try to test your email via web mail?
It will tell you your email server is working good or not.
