Is .io extension good for setting up a music site?

I have been thinking of it if .io extension will be good to set up my clients music blog, since my friend already told me that .io is meant for tech related niches,

But I still have feelings that if I make use .io extension for my clients music blog that it can still fetch us more traffics since .io extension rank well on search engines,

And .io extension is not that much in my environment and for that it can help me rank since they is no much competition on the extension, am just confused can someone clear me from this confusion and I with be more happy..

It really comes down to personal preference, otherwise it might work as any other extension

Majority of people are used to the more classic TLD's such as .com, .net and .org.

No! I will not advise you to go ahead. Even as it ranks higher in the search engine.
You know, impression matters a lot, what is in the mind of people when they see the .io extension is tech, software, digital money stuff.
Don't get people confuse otherwise they will be turned off from your service, they will rather think you are not well informed that .io is tech stuff. I rather prefer you should go with .com extension because it's best for a musical niche. And if by any means your domain name doesn't fit the .com extension then try to revise it using the "domain naming tools". You can as well use .org but the extension .com is best for music.

Generally speaking domain extension does not matter with the type of website. You can use any domain extension you want. Dot io is very expensive domain extension, it cost about $35 (the registration price at namecheap). Why do you want to choose an expensive extension when there are cheap alternatives such as the most trusted domain dot com which cost arounf $10. Perhaps dot music will be an idea choice of domain for your music website.
