I want to transfer my domains at Godaddy to Namecheap because services there are cheap and seem better. My question is, is it safe to transfer domain name to new domain registrar? can I lose my domain while transferring if I do wrong ways as they guided? any comments?

I don't belive that you can lose your domain.
If you have doubts then contact namecheap they will help you with the transfer.
Normally it's just easy to transfer a domain.

Like the other have said, should be 100% safe.

All you have to do is provide an EPP code or an Auth code which should be given by GoDaddy in your client area. You may have to contact them about it, however.

Hope this helps!

They said it needs a few days to transfer a domain to a new domain registrar.
I don't understand why it needs more time like that, it should be transferred immediately.

The reason is for security and administrative responsibilities of the gaining and losing registrars. The registrar has to make sure that the transfer is valid and not fraudulent. And then there is actually paperwork that has to be done between the two registrars (although that paperwork is done electronically via email). This is all done according to the rules and policies set by ICANN -- https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/policy-2012-03-07-en

David, since you are in GoDaddy you can transfer it immediately also. If you have already initiated the transfer request and approved the same via email (you should have received a transfer authorization approval email with a link to approve the same) you can follow the steps below to expedite the transfer:

- Login to your GoDaddy Account,
- Go to your domain manager: GoDaddy -> Manage Domains

(You should see the complete list of your domains here.)

- From the menu, under Domains -> Transfers
- Here click on "Transfer Out".
- You will see the domain you are trying to transfer out of Godaddy. Select the domain and click on "Approve" and accept the agreement and the domain will be instantly transferred to Namecheap - no need to wait for 5-7 days!

Cheers :)

From my side NameCheap is best option to register a domain in this days.
Goddady support is not high like namecheap because namecheap always give more time to clients.
Also namecheap has great promotions and their prices are not expensive.
You should move to NameCheap.

You can't lose your domain if you register them for your real name and you do not send your transfer code to 3-d people.

I have never transferred my domains from one domain registrar to another domain registrar, However, I am absolutely sure that it is very safe. There is no chances of losing your domain. The transfer process may take 5-7 days and it is very easy. Go to your domain on your Go daddy account, click manage ans then transfer option. Once you approve the transfer, check the notification on your namecheap account.

I've transferred various domains. I believe the cheapest is NameSilo tho, their website is old and crappy looking, but they are the cheapest for sure :p

Agree with the previous replies. :)

It is safe to transfer the domains from one to another registrar. If your domain is going to expire during the transfer process then also it will be on hold , once domain will get successfully transfer then you will need to renew it at your new registrar's end.

Make sure you will transfer the domain from 60 days of domain registration date. Because as per the ICANN policy, you can not transfer the domain within 60 days of domain registration.

Your domain could only be stolen if the following line up:

1. Someone finds out your domain's EPP transfer code (only your registrar should be able to see it apart from you)
2. Your domain-associated email account gets stolen, hacked (the hacker could reply to the confirmation email)

If neither of them is true, - your domain is completely safe during the transfer :)

p.s. It will take a long time for the transfer to finish, make sure you have enough time left until the domain's expiration date (at least 1-2 weeks left)
