Hey all,

(New poster, I searched for similar questions but couldn't find anything - feel free to link to any old discussions i missed)

I recently moved my company's domain from an ancient private hosting service over to Squarespace as part of a site revamp. The move itself went fine and the new site has been up and running for a long time.

However, when I made the move, we lost access to two of our old gmail accounts that were linked to the domain name, ex:

info@[domainname].com

I've tried reconfiguring the MX records to point back to gmail, but no dice. There's a good chance I'm not going through the right interface.

For reference, our domain is managed by Network Solutions, and the site is hosted by SquareSpace.

Is there a way to regain access to these old domain-based gmail accounts?

Thanks!

Hello mariechapman,
The problem is not the MX records, MX records are only a way to route emails for an address @yourdomain.com to a mail server. But if you was checking your emails via gmail, that mean there was a pop/imap server to check your emails. If you have remove your old hosting, your mailboxes are probably removed too.

Are you not hosting the email services with your hosting provider?

If you are not able to connect the email account [email protected] created with google apps, you should contact gmail support.
MX record is only used to receive mails to your email address. You need to set the below MX record to receive mails in your email account under your domain created in google apps.

===
1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
5 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
10 ALT3.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
===

Also remove all other MX records in DNS.
