What is NAT VPS? How does it work?

I see a lot of mega cheap deals on the net but a lot come with NAT IP instead of a dedicated IP.
Now, I've never worked on NAT IP's before, is it hard to configure or use or would it simply mean a shared IP and instead of listening on port 80, you change the port to the assigned port?
for example, if I change port 80 to the one assigned, my website will work?
Thanks in advanced.

I'm not sure to understand. If a VPS is under a NAT, that mean you have to use a reverse proxy to redirect your visitors properly with another port than 80 or 443. But a dedicated IP is one of the main features for a VPS. For me that's probably not a good deal. If you are looking for a cheap VPS, try OVH or scaleway, both of them come with a IPv4 + IPv6

A NAT VPS assigns a single public IPv4 address to all virtual machines within the same node. Only ports are assigned uniquely (you are given a port range that is routed to your machine).

I have a NAT VPS with i-83 for a personal VPN and it works wonderfully for the purpose.

Yes as NodeComet mentioned a natted vps has only a certain number of ports routed to it , its usually not Preferred for web-hosting
you will be better using the natted VPS with only IPV6 To reach it . other wise there is a lots of cheap VPS with IPV4

No, it will not work if you just change the port, but you can use it to host a website if you use a reverse proxy like Cloudflare, just tell it to point to the ipv6 address and CF will handle the rest. Or, some providers actually put an option in their panel to tell to which domain your VPS should be pointing to. It's pretty easy, although complications arise when you need it for something much more complicated than that, that requires port 80, 443 or 22 to work.

I also have some NAT VPS from I-83, like NodeComet said, it's really good for VPN since it's cheap you can buy several in different locations and you'll have a bunch of VPN for a year for only $30 or so. :)

If privacy is one the main concerns then going for a NAT VPS might not be a great choice as it happens that many customers are put up on a single machine and they share the same port and visitors needs to add the port also.
