Out of curiosity, I would like to hear your shares, how many of you use RAID 10 for your VPSes? Or, those who have experience with it, do you believe that it's worth for clients, assuming you are not loading the node with an insane amount of clients? Is RAID 10 really worth it, in regards to the costs? Wouldn't it in some cases be cheaper to just go with RAID 1, and put less clients on that machine, and put the savings towards another node?

I'm using RAID 10 on my clusters, and it's not more expensive than RAID 1, you have only 50% of the storage available. But with RAID 10, performances are better. RAID 5 is cheaper but also require more time in case of crash. With RAID 10, you can change a disk without any downtime.

In raid-5 you can add 1 disk as a backup so if one of the disks crash so nothing will happened, and its will run,
about the Raid, I think the best raid is 10, easy to recover after crash and config.

even with raid5/50 u wont have downtime when replacing a disk, but NEVER USE RAID5/6/50/60 or even 51/61 with Solid State Drives !!

Yes, RAID 10 is a wonderful and very popular configuration.

Keep in mind, RAID 5 is not recommended for SSD's

Raid 10 here,

Best config you can have regardless of what you are hosting.
Highly advise using raid 10.
Id you using raid 5 i would suggest going to raid 6 asap.
Raid 5 has a issues with random data that can destroy the raid data.

RAID-10 here also. I think it is definitely one of the most popular configs in use today. It isn't only great for when a drive fails but also for performance reasons.

We use RAID-10 too. Well worth the extra money for gain in performance as mentioned by other members.

RAID 10 is an amalgamation of features of RAID 1 and RAID 0, but it makes use of these features in a different way. It creates a large stripe of small mirrors. It creates Large stripe of small mirror, has better fault tolerance and Read faster as compared to the earlier version

Hosting companies that compromise on server cost will most likely not use RAID or if at all they wiill, they will settle for RAID1 (as it only requires 2 drives). We have RAID10 strictly configured on all our servers including shared, reseller and vps nodes. With RAID10 not only we get the best redundancy but also increased drive performance.

Raid 10 here and we also use r1 soft for clients to access restores as well as backing up via whm to an offsite location.
