Premium domain names are usually domains which are either very short or domains which are very niche friendly. You can get 2 types of premium domains.
The first one is aftermarket premium domains which are the domain names that have been registered already.
The second type is registry premium domains which are brand new domains.
Premium domains are usually more expensive.

Luxin give you a good explanation for premium domains.
According to many internet marketers, used premium domains can have good ranking, if you want to have lots of traffic very fast.

Brand new premium domains have short or/and catchy names, so you can have nice name or slogan with any TLD.

According to our database : "Typically, Premium Domains are short, popular names that contain important keywords/keyphrases and hence command a higher value. Since they have been registered previously, they are well-established and boast of a higher page rank on the search engines. Hence, because they are well-geared to attract more traffic, they come at a higher price which is reflective of their value".

According to 1&1 definition:

Premium domain names are high quality domains that have already been registered, but are available for sale at a premium price. The price of a premium domain name varies according to quality; many sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Because of their higher quality, premium domain names carry the following benefits:

Easily Remembered - Shorter, catchier domain names will keep visitors coming back to your site.

Better Brand Image - Quality generic domains convey an image of prestige and added credibility, which in turn increases the likelihood that a visitor places an order.

Improved Search Engine Ranking - Domain names that contain search engine keywords are more likely to gain top search engine rankings for those keywords.

Traffic-generating - Many generic domain names receive hundreds or even thousands of visitors per day.

Investment Potential - A premium domain name is an asset that your business invests in and can later resell for a profit.

A premium domain would be considered one that is worth more money than the yearly renewal cost. So if it is a very recognizable short name like, pizza.com, that itself is worth a lot of money, based on the traffic it could generate, SEO etc.

Exactly but it's worthy buying premium domain names? I checked some and they were offering from $2000 to $3000 for a domain. Should I buy them?

If you think that is worth for you website go ahead, but if you are not sure that you will back your invested money don't.
No matter how worth is domain it is nothing if website isn't good and don't covers expenses. But if I'm sure that my website will refund in one year I will do it for sure.

I don't wanna say that is some site with monthly income as price of that domains, how long it take only owners knows.

Premium domains are explained very well here. However, you don't know where a domain has been. Perhaps it used to have illegal content. Maybe, it's blacklisted. I would check it out before I spent thousands of dollars on a used domain.

Premium domains are valuable, short and common. These domains are easy to remember. Premium domains always have good quality score as compare to free domains. Premium domain is also known as aftermarket domain, top domain, great domain and other.

Are you talking about registering a domain name that is classified as a premium domain name?

If so then those are usually domain names that the registry is selling at a premium price because they consider them valuable.

These are usually many of the common words and/or phrases that should fetch a higher price based on what they are and the amount of potential they think the domain name has.

The domains that you try to register and they are marked as premium are domains the registry has a higher price tag on because they are a common, popular, have common uses or are otherwise desirable.

A domain name that is considered a premium domain name are domains that are dictionary words, have common phrases or uses, have the right letters or numbers in them or basically anything that would be in high demand.

Short domain names are not always premium, that would depend on the extension that the domain has what it is, what letters or numbers that it has in it, if it's brandable and catchy or have other desirable uses.

That is true, a lot of already registered domains do have a bad history.

What does the domain's past history have to do with whether or not it is a premium domain or not?

Premium domain name value wont change with its past history..as googlebot is very advanced now, any old domain updated with proper contains google will give it the right value it deserves. If we work on the domain correctly its just a matter of month and domain will work fine for you.

Premium domain names can fetch credibility, web traffic, and memorability for an online business. Having a domain name that is short and descriptive which will give customers something easy to remember will increase the chances of connecting customers to one business.

unless you got a master plan for the domain avoid it. they turn out to be a waste of money if u got no ideas in mind for it. I tried it once and regretted paying 300 USD for a damn domain name

Premium domains according to me are an entity that are sold for 4-5 figures atleast and people are always on the lookout for such domains.

Most of the time, a "premium domain" is a domain name that is catchy or has popular keywords in it and has been registered by an individual or company with the hope of selling it at a much higher price to someone who wants to use that particular domain for their new web site.

There's nothing premium about it, other than the fact that someone else has bought it and is offering it for resale to you at a premium.

Correct, it also bases on the price that people willing to pay, at least 4-5 figures, the higher the worthier.
I agree with you and although I saw some premium domains with 3 figures but to be honest it is not better than normal domain.

Most of the time, a "premium domain" is a domain name that is catchy or has popular keywords in it
I'm only wondering why people like premium domains with keywords in it, this will give more benefit to SEO?
