I want to earn money from my blogs by joining adsense. I think Adsense is a great network for my blogs and content sites. I read a lot on bloggers makes lot's of money with adsense, so I want to try to create blogs. Now my question is: Is it better to host a blog on a platform like blogger or wordpress or host one on my own server? And if you would choose a blog platform, witch one would it be and why?
This question has the only purpose to find out about the differences and consequences of choosing a hosted blog or host a blog and i hope i will get honest answers.

Hi Philippe,

Regardless of if you have a self hosted blog or using a platform such as blogger, it should't have any advantages one way or the other in terms of SEO.
I've always viewed content platforms such as blogger as a great free solution for those that do not want to pay but a good shared hosting account is only $5 or under a month.

I'd go with self hosted, but it's just personal preference.

I would pick a shared hosting or better is a VPS and host your blog there, this helps you manage your blog easily
If you have low budget for web hosting, then you can try free blogs but in my personal opinion, they are not recommended.

I rather choose self hosted blog and pick wordpress because its has a lot plugins and theme which is support to do monetizing.
You are right on this, go with self hosted blog will help us customize everything on our own blogs and using more plugins or themes without limitation on free blogs like Wordpress or Blogger.
I rarely use free blogs, just some for SEO purposes but they are weak if compared to self hosted blog.

Self Hosted is going to give you more control over your web hosting environment and blog. Not to mention if you are successful, it will be much easier to upgrade your current web hosting enviroment vs moving from free blog to self hosted.

My recommendation would be to start with Self Hosted and move your way up. No need to waste any time on free blog sites.

Shared web hosting would give you full control over your advertisements. Most blog hosts require a certain size, quantity, etc. of your ads. If you host your own blog, you can add whatever you'd like, and if you use Wordpress, they have plenty of plugins you could use to add advertisements to your website. I think they even have a few that track results for you.

Self Hosted Blog for sure, you have much more control over source code then you would over free blog.

You can use free blogs to join google adsense, but there are some downsides to using free blog sites. First, the URL has the name of the free site or blog” included in the name. A second negative to a free blog site is that the free templates offered can be limiting. Hosting a blog on your own domain is not that expensive. To create your website I recommend using a CMS. If you compare top CMS of WordPress, Joomla and Drupal you will see all work for you, but your choice depends on the level of your skills. Since I guess you are beginner I recommend choosing WordPress which is the most easy-to-use among the three ones. You didn't tell about your website details, but if you need to have online transaction via your website, the mentioned CMS are not your best choices, however some plugins enable them to accept online payments. But the most recommended way is installing a shopping cart on your hosting account. Magento, Opencart and Prestashop are the top shopping carts and you can compare them on the web to see which is more preferred for you.
