I tested out the Reseller Hosting offer section but I could not clarify when or how a reseller hosting is necessary for my sites.
Is it worth paying for? What kinda benefits can i get when buying a reseller package. I often select a shared or a managed vps all the time and never used reseller hosting before.
Anyone knows?

Reseller hosting is a type of hosting that enables you to sell already owned hosting resources to your clients, under your brand name. For example, if you sign up for a reseller hosting package from a web hosting company that provides you with 50 GB web space and 500 GB bandwidth; it's your decision to either sell out the hosting resources further or put them for your own use.

Hi Philippe,

A reseller account is limited access to a server which only allows you to do anything needed to manage the accounts you are hosting.
You will get better performance with a reseller account due to each account having it's own resource allocation (if the host is using CloudLinux)

Reseller accounts are more designed towards people what want to sell hosting or web designers or similar needed hosting for their clients.

Other than this reason i can find other benefits to use a reseller account that's why I always choose a shared or a VPS.

If I have many customers using my website services, I should choose a reseller account?
It is possible to use a VPS and sharing resources like a reseller account?

Yes, without going into to much detail a reseller account will give you more performance and security for the domains you host. If you have paying customers on a shared account it's only a matter of time before something bad happens.

Yes, accounts on a VPS will be exactly like a reseller account apart from you will have full access and control of the server.

If that, must back to the question, why do we need to reseller account and why reseller account was appeared while a VPS could take all its functions. right? Unless it comes from its name "reseller hosting", we can resell hosting without using it?

Yes, in OP's case, a Reseller account is definitely the way to go. More resources and better security and performance.

The only real difference between a standard shared web hosting account and a reseller account is WHM (web hosting manager). If you ever feel the need to host multiple websites on different cPanel accounts or if you plan reselling web hosting services (without having to rent a full dedicated server), then a Reseller account will be your best bet.

Reseller is not always the way to go, you can always find a managed provider who will help you with the back end work and just sell from your own server. Reselling is basically for beginners so you don't have to worry about setting everything up yourself and so that someone can hold your hand the whole way but you will only really learn through trial and error. Go ahead and grab a small dedi and install cPanel on it and contemplate your next moves. Once you get into the groove you will find yourself saving money and learning a lot.

Price advantage and saving of time as you do not have to keep track of server upgrades and other issues of maintenance of the server, its for sure the best thing. Its surely going to be re seller account for webmasters, for individuals with one website may go for normal single owner accounts to host a single domain name.
Be very careful before choosing re-seller account as the data and your reputation is in hands of the hosting company and their support dedication/speed

A reseller hosting plan is great for allowing a large allotment of storage and bandwidth that can be used by a customer in whatever way they wish.

This means that creating multiple websites with domains attached to them or having access to large storage locations is possible. Reseller hosting even provides the ability to customers to sell off their own bandwidth and storage to create their own personal webhost services that they can market to friends or family.

Reseller hosting will allow for you to issue a separate cpanel for each domain and have the option to have different logins for each, thus allowing you to sell each one. A vps will give you more options and more complexity and usually less for your money but will also allow you to sell reseller accounts as well as hosting accounts.

It's pretty simple.

If you have high ambitions and want to run a web hosting company with Dedicated Resources some day, start small. Go for an affordable Reseller hosting package and promote your business. Get clients and when you are big enough to afford a Dedi server, make the move.. :D

If you want learn some Hosting knowledge is a default Reseller good, you later choose to use Master Reseller, Alpha Reseller and Super Alpha Reseller, but if you want have full 'Root' access the you can better buy a VPS to host it. But if you don't want have that but just pure manage clients and no server maintenaces then is the Reseller the best option for you.

It is actually depended on how big your company is, if your name is big, and its an old company it is always preferred to use your own. If its a startup, or a small business, begin with reseller, more better.

Before purchasing any hosting one has to decide what one wants to achieve. Reseller hosting plan can help in proper allocation or resources and create small hosting packages for the Resellers' customers. If one wants to resell hosting to others and earn a profit, then the Reseller hosting plan is a good option.

To be honest re-seller hosting is a remnant of the olden days, when there were only two option shared hosting or dedicated server. Reselling filled that gap and allow others to sell additional resources from the hosting provider without owning a server ie re-sell-er . Vps is still relative new technology(please don't nit pick), which solve the problem of root access without rent a server. Yes you can side step reseller account if you wanted to a vps. But you have cost and overhead to consider if you want to be a provider. I think the op is confused on the original purpose of a vps vs reseller, hope this help

Hello,

A Reseller is a cheaper way of starting a web hosting. You don't get full access so that could be a downside, but you can always start a legitimate hosting once you can afford it.

Reseller hosting is a very good entry level investment in the web hosting business.

Essentially you are getting a slice of dedicated resources, with none of the licensing fees applied.

The problems you face is also less than managing your own server, and will gear you up ready before you are ready to get your own server !

Hello

One of the advantages of reseller is that it is in a shared environment where everything should work (in good companies) so you do not have to worry about anything.

It is a good option to start a hosting company with little budget.

There are many hosts and every one of them offers 24/7 support, huge space and bandwidth, lots of features at low cost and much, much more. When you face such offers it seems like a great chance is knocking at your door.
