Why are you so curious with the things that are nothing to do with any thing .. and what are you going to by knowing this techniques. It looks like you are behind some one's website and trying to expose his hosting platform :music:

Maybe I will know where a good hosting is quality that websites are using them. I can have alternatives to the current web host.

You must directly contact website owner and get information about there website was hosted on shared, vps or dedicated
They will never tell you this info unless you are hosting your sites on their hosting servers.

To put simply no.

You can do some digging in DNS and see if you can find any PTR records showing other domains on the server which will give you an idea if it's a shared server or not.
This is not something you can get any solid evidence about.

To be honest no. And to be fair whats the point if the service is good stick with them. If its bad kick them to the curb. You may find that a reseller may give you greater service then the provider. Also most hosting provider tend to go white-label for this same reason. All of our server are whitelab to keep our resellers happy.

You could just ask the provider, some companies host on different platforms, say your offering a free fist month, you may put that account on a reseller server until payment is made then transfer it to your trusted server accounts on a vps or dedicated server. In any event it will be one of three reseller, vps, or dedicated

There's no way to find out if a website is hosted on a bare metal dedicated box or a virtual platform, unless you have direct root/administrator access the the server. However, you can still do a reverse IP lookup to check if website has a dedicated IP or shares it with other websites.

Sample request: http://reverseip.domaintools.com/search/?q=forumweb.hosting

I think even it has some websites and a dedicated IP then it is hard to say its a shared or a dedicated server though. :)
