I have learned a bit more HTML and basic CSS. So what do I learn next and how to I go about it. To finally be able to develop my own website. Should I focus more on learning codes like HTML, CSS and Javascript or will I directly be able to build a website using WordPress?

Web design and Web development are not the same job.
You will have to learn php if you want to develop your own website. But you can use WordPress without having any css, html or php skills. It doesn't require to be a developer to use WordPress.

Most designers and developers use what is know as a ' Frame Work ' as a starting base for the site.

Bootstrap is the most used framework http://getbootstrap.com/
As with any sort of programming you should never reinvent the wheel, within Bootstrap you have easy to use pre written code which allow you to simply create the frontend for common website elements such as layout control, forms, drop down navigation and and modals. If you have a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS you should have no problem using a framework.

If you interested in back end development (databases powered content, login systems) etc are more complex to learn and you will need a solid understanding of PHP.
Wordpress does provide many codex code's which will make backend development easier.

The main thing you need to understand about creating web sites is the two different types of roles when designing a site.

Web Designers: These people are designers often they have little technical knowledge but are good at presentation, design, layout and UI design.
Web Developers: These people are technical and write all the code needed for the designers front end design and back end functionality.

My advice would be just start to design a basic page and improve it over time as you learn more.

Hope this helps

To be honest designing a Wordpress does not really need someone to have HTML & CSS knowledge.

Though those are pretty good skills to have, the best way to learn is to be practical as you continue to learn. So start with a small and basic website and then over time start adding more/new features on it.

W3school is a really cool platform to learn from.

Best of luck friend!

Dreamweaver that is how I got started and just to let you know I had no idea what a website was made of, it could have been made of feathers in a pillow and I would have had no clue, I started one knight in my basement and keep going, so you can do it too..

Partner up with someone,to help you out. If you can find someone with the same motivation or drive or goal as you, you've got a massive leg up on the person who's still struggling at home alone. You save time because you don't need to get stuck on error messages for 4 hours and you can share strategic insights along the way.

You Don't Need Any high Coding Skills When Working With WordPress. Use theme and plugins for most of the designing. But when you need or want some functionality that your plugins don't provide? Or stuff doesn't look so hot with your theme then you need to go for the coding section only.

Learning to code is important to create your own designs, and I would recommend visiting some of the more popular sites out there to get a good idea of what's trending. You can use your web browser tools to inspect elements that you like and learn how to incorporate them into a website. Also, check out The Odin Project to help guide you through the learning process on the development side. There are many free resources you can use. Google is definitely your friend. Design is more of a feel than something you just learn.
