Does anybody here have first hand experience with OVH's public cloud? I'm eyeing the CPU instance line for a website I run and would like to hear what others have to say about them.

Hello Justin,
I'm using it since the runabove beta, and like always with OVH, it work fine. It require to read the documentation, to learn how to use some settings, but if you know how to use linux, there is nothing very hard. The control panel is nice and easy to use :

But I'm not sure the main purpose of the Public cloud is web hosting. Why are you looking for instance instead of VPS ?

Would be nice if you can tell us what type of CPU & Ghz you are using on your VPS.
e.g if your VPS come with 3.4Ghz CPU moving to 1.2Ghz cloud wont do any difference :)

Thanks for the info Virtubox. That control panel does look pretty snazzy, and I'm glad to hear that it's a solid product too. The VPS I'm on now used an intel L5520 2.27ghz. I'm thinking of the Cloud instead because I got 2.5 times the amount of storage and bandwidth compared to the VPS, and only sacrifice a few gb of ram. It's an image host and converting gif to webm/mp4 will be much quicker with the additional cores.

Yes it will be really faster, L5520 score is 4377 at cpubenchmark against 17785 for the E5-2687W v3 used by OVH. But the VPS Cloud have 4 cores against 2 for the instance. I don't know if they use the same CPU.
