I started Vi on my VPS hosting. However I'm new to Vim editor, and now I can not quit. I see the editor and I can write text, at the bottom line there is a label "recording". How do I quit Vi? are there any important commands need to know to work with Vim?

First switch to command mode by pressing ESC

You can now use the following options

:q to quit.
:wq save and quit.

Press Enter

Sometimes you might need to quit by force without saving any changes, you can use:

1. Press Esc to quit editing mode
2. type "q!" to quit VIM
