What is 1GB dedicated port?

I'm in the process of selecting a dedicated host for any my big clients out there. I am reading any dedicated offers on the forum and some have feature "1GB dedicated port". I don't really understand this term.

Does it mean that my server will effectively be able to push 1Gb/s to another server in another rack in the same datacenter at all time?

if you have an informed opinion about this, or even better, a direct knowledge of the serverloft network, I'll be very grateful if you can help.

Well, Your host will tell its dedicated 1GBPS port but will be less than that. you wont get 100% speed at all. but It is far batter than 100mbit port. In 1 GBPS port your uplink will be almost half of the downlink!

This does mean that with the right hardware in place, you will get close to 1Gbps in throughput. Again, this all has to do with how the back end is all setup on the provider's side. A lot of small / startup hosts will provide you with the super awesome "1 Gbps port!!" but then they only have a 100mbps connection to the Internet - which won't get you anywhere close to 1Gbps in speed.

Idea of port is only you get lots of pace/speed for uploading and downloading content over the server.

The port speed is referring to the speed of the servers connection to the network.

If you have a 1Gbps port, your connection is 1Gbps upload & download. On a quality network, you should be able to sustain around 980Mbps no problem.

When looking for a server provider, be sure to ask what the guaranteed speed is. A lot of low budget providers will give you a 1Gbos port, with a guaranteed speed of only 250Mbps.
If this is a important project, remember the old saying "you get what you pay for"!

it is a simple reference to the upload and download speed of the server.
to put it in simpler terms, its like the amount of speed that your ISP gives your house, (your house is the dedicated server and ISP is the dedicated server provider). even though your ISP may offer 50mbps you are most likely to get 45mbps, its the same with dedicated servers however as mentioned if the dedicated server provider is good, you will get very close to the promised speed.

1 Gbps Dedicated Server And Limited Bandwidth Both Are Premium Things.It means you will get top speed untill bw Expire or over limit.most of On NL servers you will get max speed.as i experience about it so i am just simply provide my feedback about it

You will Get 1 Gbps and 2 Gbps,10 Gbps also possible but price will be high.100 Mbps or 500 Mbps n 300 Mbps all connections possible on Dedicated Servers
