Hello everyone, i have some trouble understand who provides the name server when i want to host a domain?

Supposing a purchase a Domain from a third party website and want to host the domain on the servers of a company providing web hosting services. I would love to know who provides the name servers; the company offering the domains or the web hosting company?

Your web hosting company would provide the nameservers if you are on shared or reseller hosting. If you are on a VPS or dedicated server, you would typically run your own nameservers.

Suppose i am running a VPS or Dedicated Server, and have purchased say 40 domain names from the Domain provider and want the hosting company to host the domains on the server i am paying for with extra purchased IP's, what will be needed or results?

You would need to:
1. Setup nameservers on your server.
2. Register your nameservers (i.e. ns1.ddsvpshost.com) at eNnom, or other primary register
3. Set your domain names to use your nameservers.
4. Set DNS records for your domains in your DNS.

If your server is running cPanel it Plesk, #1 is quite easy. If not, your host should handle this for you if it is a managed server.

This is the kind of situation where I would definitely recommend upgrading to a managed solution if you have not done so already. As RDO said if you have the control panel in place it shouldn't be too much of an issue setting up the Nameservers, the other option if you don't want to host your own nameservers is to purchase a DNS hosted solution; or even using CloudFlare as your DNS host.

And also you need to setup rDNS.

You can ask your VPS/Service provider to set ns1.example.com rDNS on your IP Address.

Your webhosting provider provides the name servers. If you assign your domain to those name servers, your domain should point to the server. You can also ask if you may setup your own name servers.
