I have a blog and running on hosting with cPanel. Sometimes, I check cpanel it showing some thousands visitors a month while google analytics some hundreds of visitors. why and what makes the different? any one knows?

Hi Gregorio,

Yeah the big difference is that cPanel stats will show bots, crawlers etc.. Where as Analytics does not... The exception is some referral spam which can make it into Analytics when used with javascript to trick G into thinking that its a real person... and indeed there is a ton of sh** which visits websites which are not real people as you have noted ;-)

Recently I've started to block referral spam via htaccess... You can read more about it here...

Cheers,

Sid

I don't know how G' analytics calculate stats but I tried to test real visitors online now from G analytic for my blog while it is showing 0 then my blog has got 12 visitors and me.

As stated, cPanel logs will display every request that was sent to Apache, this includes crawlers, bots, etc. Whereas google analytics will not include any of this. For example, one site I haven't launched yet but it is online, received 2.7 million pageviews this month (80,000+ pages indexed), but in all actuality, there has only been truly a couple thousand page views. The majority of the page views were google/bing/etc bots.
