Hi Stanton -

I use the Duplicator plugin which makes migration really easy with literally a couple of clicks to create an export and install file... On the other end you upload two files, run the install and add your parameters (which will solve your image path issue and other similar things within WP database)...

For me this plugin is one of the best out there... It allows me to have backups, set up a duplicate site on localhost on XAMP for development/testing etc... For the details check it out here...

I just found this youtube vid, showing you how you can implement a migration within 5 minutes... Prior to that it used to take me ages as I did it manually with database export, mysql query updates as well as moving all files...

Best of luck,

Sid

Oh just realized that you should try update your permalinks first within WP - as that might fix it... If not then I would try Duplicator plugin as described above... Otherwise the only solution will be to run some mysql update commands within phpmyadmin - let me know if you need help with that....

I have a question, can I download my blog databse to my PC and open it, replace all olddomain.com to newdomain.com and reupload to phpmyadmin, it's a good way to update image links?

Yeah you could - but its risky! I've done that before and it took a bit of time to get it right as its easy to break more things in the process... That's the way I used to do it before I began using Duplicator... Saying that I would try the "Velvet Blues" plugin which Hassan pointed out as it seems to do the samething ....

Velvet Blues Update URLs is great. It's handy for going from http:// to https:// as well.

In fact here is how i proceed :

I make a Backup of my Database

I make a buckup of Uploads directory

I use Wordpress Eport/Import Plugin that you can use from Dashboard => Tools

and That's all... if there is an Error or something, i fix the Database and i import it...

Goodluck
