I don't rely on Social Bookmarking though I use them for quick indexing because bots usually crawl them on regular basis. Only SU generate traffic other than this I simply don't find an alternative.

It's a nice link and maybe some traffic may come from it. But it's not a high priority anymore, at least not the way that it used to be. It's good also for diversifying your links.

I would advise people to be consistent with this but not make them a high priority.

Social bookmarking is the basic steps of SEO starting. By using the Social Bookmarking you can generate traffic to your website by increasing the Keyword rank on search engine. But, this is useful for some time only like 2-3 months. after this time period these link are removed automatically by the websites and we loose our Reputation on search engine.

Actually, new penguin and panda updates say that Social Bookmarking isn't such a good method anymore. You may see some traffic from it, but that traffic isn't usually any good.

Forgot worrying about social bookmarks and focus on quality backlinks instead!

Social bookmarking sites are used to increase the value of a link through back links. High quality sites are a boon and should be used instead of low PR ones. In fact a few high PR sites are better than innumerable low PR ones. Sites Diigo, Delicious, StumbleUpon, Scoop.it, Folkd are great.

I think for traffic it will work but for building backlinks social bookmarking submissions is considered as link scheme according to Google for violating quality guidelines.

Perhaps, you was wrong because social bookmark links are nofollow thus it don't help you more on increase backlinks for your websites, only drive traffic to your website if you do right way.
