I live in India and A person has committed a fraud with me, the domain is registered with a UK Based registrar. He created an identical domain name and misinterpreted to be a company who I was doing work with and misled me multiple times.

Is it possible to know the details of the owner of this domain? His IP Address? or Real name on Credit Card used for payment?

Would really appreciate your help on this matter, I want to proceed with a legal case against this person but for that I'd need to know the details of the person like IP, name etc.

WHOIS search didnt helping Emailing the Registrar also didnt help.

Hey,

actually nowadays there are 99% of domain registrars that uses whois privacy to cover/protect users details, especially ccTLDs. And unfortunately if your company is not registered as a trademark brand there is nothing that you can do about it.
If you want to proceed the legal case, then you can do that to the registrar that has registered mentioned domain name on behalf of the customer, and mentioned registrar will have to take action to the person who registered it.
Again, you are going to throw money and reaching nothing until your company is registered as trademark/protected brand. More you can find here: https://www.redpoints.com/blog/trademark-vs-domain-name/

Btw, what is the domain name in question?

The ability to obtain the contact information of the person who registered a domain depends on whether the domain owner has enabled privacy protection. Domain privacy protection is a service that masks the contact information of the domain owner, making it difficult to find. If privacy protection is enabled, you will need to contact the domain registrar to obtain the owner's contact information.

If privacy protection is enabled, you will need to contact the domain registrar to obtain the owner's contact information.
And you believe that domain registrar will give you contact information of their customers just like that right?! I mean what is this! What you are saying is, you go to the bank and ask for whoever you want for contact details and his deposited amount that he has! Each domain registrar is obligated to fully comply with GDPR law and or domain privacy, and due to that except law enforcements, like court etc, nobody else would be able to get "owners contact information" if the domain owner has domain privacy enabled/activated!

I'd file a police complaint and go to court but my problem is, its not MY company they misrepresented, its a company I do business with. Which eventually made me suffer a loss. So if I do a police complaint (and not the actual Business) will the domain registrar be able to help?

Yes and no, yes if court/police will contact the registrar it might help to put them down. No if the brand/trademark is not registered/protected. May i ask, do they use your contact details in their website, like your company info details exact as yours one? If that is not your company, there is nothing you can do, you may convinc mentioned company owner to do it. However, based on all what you have been told here, it seems to me that you are talking about your competitor in which they took your work? In which i would advice not to do anything because it's worthless if this is the case or am i missing something?

I'm truly sorry to hear about your situation. Dealing with fraudulent activities can be challenging. When it comes to identifying the owner of a domain, the WHOIS database typically provides such details, but sometimes the information is protected for privacy reasons. If the WHOIS search and contacting the registrar haven't yielded results, legal recourse might be your next step. Consider seeking legal counsel or consulting with law enforcement to explore further options. They might have the necessary means and legal procedures to obtain the information you need to pursue a case against the perpetrator. Remember to document all communications and evidence related to the fraud for your case.

I hope you find a resolution and justice in this matter.
