Hi, install the roll back plugin so if anything doesn’t work you can roll back Wordpress to any version

There is nothing wrong if you want to use the old version of WordPress. However, if you want to make the most out of it, you should definitely take the time to upgrade to its latest version. Do forget to install the rollback plugin as well. Since you guys are all WordPress users, do you guys have any blog sites you can share with us? Or might as well share your own blogsite. I just want to read different blogs to spark my creativity. Also, do you guys have any advice when it comes to posting blogs? Thanks a lot!

It is good if you are thinking about up-gradation of plugin as it is must for security reason.
You can upgrade wordpress with any plugin or you can manually upgrade it.

I also have wordpress website and used these steps to Upgrade Wordpress manually.
Make sure first you have to take backup of your complete account before doing anything.

I hope this will help you.

To make your server more secure, you have to keep all services and website scripts, WordPress themes, and plugins up to date by upgrading whenever a new version comes out. Also, make a backup of the files and database before you update your WordPress.

Yup. Just take a backup of the files and you should be good. I did the same. Also let your hosting provider know just in case. I told mine (Bluehost India) and they were kind enough to tell me what the update is about and what I need to do. They were the ones who told me to take a backup just in case. Also, if your plugins have a new version, upgrade them too and try working with them if the new version of WP gets updated.

WordPress is a free and open-source platform. Its main developers are always working on newer versions to add new features and address bugs. Updates also include security and performance enhancements. Keeping your WordPress up to date stops hackers from injecting dangerous code via plugins.

The main reason to stay up to date with the latest (or close to latest) releases of any open source software, including WordPress, is that new releases may have security and performance improvements, even if you don't need any new shiny features.

In the case of WP, it's ok to be using 4.9 as long as you continue to update to the latest releases in the 4.9 branch, which right now is 4.9.18.

I'm curious what plugins you are using that are not compatible with newer WP versions, because they presumably haven't been updated for a long time and are probably a much bigger security risk than an older WP version.

The main thing to remember is, as with any update to anything, make a backup first so that if it all does go horribly wrong then you can easily and quickly restore everything to the previous working state.

I have tried update my WordPress to the latest version but unfortunately some of my plugins are not functioning anymore. So it's up to you to decide which version to use. But remember to backup your WordPress so you can easily downgrade back to the older version.

Again, I'd be most worries about what the not updated plugins are and think about finding alternatives for those.

Make sure your plugins or addons are compatible with the latest Wordpress version before upgrade it. If not, you can get any issues for your websites.

Yes, it is generally recommended to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress as soon as possible. WordPress releases regular updates that often include important security patches, bug fixes, and new features. By upgrading to the latest version, you can help ensure the security and stability of your website, as well as access the latest features and improvements.

Here are some suggestions you can consider:

Backup your website: Before making any changes, it's important to backup your website to ensure you can restore it in case something goes wrong during the upgrade process.

It's recommended to backup your website regularly, not just before upgrading. However, it's especially important to backup your website before making any major changes, such as upgrading WordPress. You can backup your website using a plugin like UpdraftPlus or through your hosting provider's backup service.

Update your plugins and themes: Make sure all of your plugins and themes are up-to-date. This can help ensure compatibility with the latest version of WordPress.

It's a good idea to regularly update your plugins and themes to ensure they're compatible with the latest version of WordPress. You can check for updates through the WordPress dashboard, and update them individually or all at once. However, before updating, it's important to check if the new version is compatible with your current WordPress version and other plugins you're using.

Test on a staging site: Consider creating a staging site where you can test the compatibility of your plugins with the latest version of WordPress without affecting your live website. You can use a plugin like WP Staging to create a staging site.

If you have a large or complex website, or if you're worried about the impact of updating on your live site, it's a good idea to create a staging site where you can test the compatibility of your plugins with the latest version of WordPress. You can use a plugin like WP Staging to create a staging site, and then test your website and plugins there before applying the updates to your live site.

Reach out to plugin developers: Contact the developers of the plugins you rely on and inquire about their plans for compatibility with the latest version of WordPress. They may have already released updated versions of their plugins that are compatible with the latest version of WordPress.

If you're concerned about the compatibility of a plugin with the latest version of WordPress, it's a good idea to reach out to the plugin developers and inquire about their plans for compatibility. They may have already released updated versions of their plugins that are compatible with the latest version of WordPress. Some plugin developers may also offer support or assistance with updating their plugins.

Consider alternative plugins: If your current plugins are not compatible with the latest version of WordPress, consider looking for alternative plugins that offer similar functionality and are compatible with the latest version of WordPress.

If your current plugins are not compatible with the latest version of WordPress, you can consider looking for alternative plugins that offer similar functionality and are compatible with the latest version of WordPress. Before making the switch, make sure to thoroughly research and test the alternative plugins to ensure they meet your needs and are compatible with your current website setup.

Overall, it's important to prioritize security by keeping WordPress updated. However, it's also important to ensure that your website functions properly and that your plugins are compatible. By following the suggestions above, you can mitigate the risks of upgrading and potentially find a solution that works for your website.
