Linux VPS Server

I'm looking for the set up of the new Linux VPS server. What crucial features and specifications do I need to look for in any web hosting provider? Also, if possible kindly mention all the necessary specifications that I need in setting up VPS hosting. Thanks in Advance!

If it is a new VPS server, I would look into these specs
RAM
CPU speed and number of cores
SSD, disk storage
Download/upload speed
Control panel for setting up

According to me, I will focus on which control panel I will setup on it because it will decide how my websites will run on this vps.
Just my 0.0002 cents.

Like Bryan said , you will have to check the VPS configuration in terms of

RAM , CPU , number of Cores etc... along with that if they are managed VPS or unmanaged and what hosting control they are offering with the VPS with the backup features too.

I prefer to have 2+ CPU cores and also Xen / KVM based for true isolation.
