Depends on the host and location. Usually, around $3 - $5 a month is pretty average for shared hosting.

At minimum, we need to invest in our own domain name and hosting. Depending on the type of domain name we choose, the costs could run from just $10 a year, to hundreds or even millions! But, sure we can start with 10$!

I'm just curious if is it affordable?
Pretty affordable these days. Good unlimited bandwidth hosting, unlimited disk space, can be found for around $5 USD /month. Even less, it depends on the service really. cPanel, good support, backups, high uptime. I wouldn't pay $10 per year though. Every shared hosting will have serious limitations when it comes to paying a dollar a month. Not good. Free hosting is ever worse. I've been there, done that. Most of the free hostings have a 5GB or even less bandwidth and don't have any extras or even a cPanel. Some of them, actually most of them don't even give you a room to breathe when it comes to domains, subdomains, and linking your domain to your hosting.

I believe anyone can put aside $5 a month for a decent hosting plan. If you give $10, it's an overkill. For a blog or a medium sized website, you don't need more.

Regular shared hosting plans can be successfully found for 2-10$ per month, depending on preferred control panel, number of hosted domains, disk space, etc... Unless you are looking to host e-shop, business management system or similar project that would result in very high traffic or specific server configuration, you should be fine with regular hosting.

There are pretty cheap options starting from 2-3$ per month. Yet, it may be pricey if you face some of the security issues. So, for me web hosting is not an option for any business projects, rather for blogging or something like this.
Other than that web hosting "cheap" packages usually have very limited resources to use, so once you reach that limit you'd have to pay more. Much more.

It totally depends on your budget. Low cost webhosting is available
nowadays but you are suggested to choose a webhosting as per your requirement and their customer support.

Starts with free and goes way up to hundreds of dollars per month. Most users will just need a shared hosting where they can host their website without allocated resources (that would be only required for websites with thousands of active users). Shared hosting usually costs about 3$-10$ per month. I personally recommend Lunarpages as I am using them for more than 10 years but Bluehost is also good.

Hello! :)

To be honest, I'm interested in this subject too. I believe the lowest domain price could be around 10$, but the price varies.
Most important is the quality, better to pay a higher price, rather than have a bad domain which poorly works.

So what kind of website are you planning to host exactly? I have a blog, so mine won't be overwhelming.

Starting with shared hosting is not a issue for beginners. When your site traffic increases you can move to VPS/Dedicated server at any time and it is possible with majority of hosting providers to upgrade hosting accounts.

Today, starting a website or blog is very easy and affordable. You can start a blog as low as $3.95/month + Free Domain + Free SSL with reputed hosting providers. Shared hosting is the best solution for beginners, you will not get any issue with shared hosting solution.

Before choosing any web hosting provider, don't forget to look at the following things.

1) Free Domain Name
2) Free SSL certificate
3) Low Cost as low as $3.95/month
4) Reliable Hosting Provider
5) 24/7 Customer Support

I hope it helps.
