Hey, there !

What is the difference between these two platforms ?

Which one do you use ?

I've read some reports that javascript is taking over, but would like to hear it from you.

Wordpress lets you create websites without having an in depth knowledge in programming specifically in web development. Java is a programming language that is being used by programmers in developing enterprise applications.

Choosing between Wordpress and Java depends on the purpose of the system or website, if you are a blogger and do not have the knowledge in programming, you should use wordpress as it will help you create your own site easily.

Wordpress is for bloggers and I think they will have an advantage using wordpress because they will have more time creating quality content for their blogs without having to worry about the website development. Wordpress has templates that are available and ready to use.

I don't have experience in using Wordpress but I'm using Java.

- The WordPress is a multi platform CMS built with PHP/javascipt/css/HTML/MySQL etc used for website creation as well as a blogging software. There are lost of plugins and template support avaiable to customize the WordPress to make advanced and interactive websites and it is an SEO friendly software.

- Java is an advanced and secure multi platform software development software or can be called as a high level language for software development.

You can not compare a CMS (Wordpress) with a programming language (Java) :)

Yeah that is true, one is a High Level Language, other is a Content Management System.
Even if both of them can used for website creation and there is difference in purpose of usage.

Wordpress is written in PHP so it would be more correct to compare PHP and Java.

It depends on your purpose if you want to learn web development and make your own web app , php is better because it's much much easier for a java developer . you can use a php framework that helps save time while learning and developing .
WordPress is a free and open-source content management system based on PHP & MySQL.

WordPress makes our lives easier every day - So whatever you are comparing, I believe WP will be the most helpful. 409 million users can't be wrong! :)

This is a bit like asking:

English vs Sound. What's the difference between the 2.

Like others have said, Java is a Programming Language and WordPress is a CMS built with PHP.

I would choose WordPress to design a website over Java because you can come up with a lot of functionalities with WordPress without writing a line of code. And when I need to write custom code.... PHP is just simple enough

On the other hand, I feel Java is suited for Enterprise systems. Also when I consider that Hosting Java Apps is not as easy and as affordable as Hosting PHP Apps, it makes me prefer PHP even more
