Hello.

The speed is crucial when dealing with this sort of things and I wanted to fasten it as much as I can.

Are there any methods that are simple that can help me out in improving server response time ?

We are starting and we do not want things to get slow, since speed is something we should put to the max at first.

that will depend a lot on your server and what you will manage

Is there any description of what you are going to manage on your server?

We just wanted to have a simple website about tutorials on smartphones and would only need space for videos and some text.
Nothing big.
So, I just wanted to know how can I make it respond as fast as it can for the customers.

The best way is choosing a fast server to improve your server response time without requiring many optimizations on your server. :)

Do you really need a dedicated server? From what you are describing a server is not needed, especially if you don't know how to optimise it.
Depending on how much resource you need a shared hosting, or at most a VPS should be enough. With shared host, the hosting provider will do the server optimising so you can focus on optimising the website.

If you do go for a server, I suggest getting management so they can do the optimisation for you, as you sound like your new to all this.

Site speed will depend on: server spec, connection, location of server in relation to visitors and how well optimized the website is.
You should focus on all of those areas to get best result.

As of now, we are just starters with all of this.
Thanks, I will try to find something that I can optimize easily.
Yes, of course, location of server will play a huge role.
What do you think is ranked the best for a location ?

You can play with some values inside /etc/sysctl.conf

it may help to reduce I/O and then speed up your server but you have to be really careful with the following values.

vm.swappiness=?
vm.vfs_cache_pressure=?
vm.min_free_kbytes=?

The question here for me is what do you mean by "server response time"? Are you referring to server responding as in "pinging it" or do you test your website's speed and see that "server response time" is high? If it is the first one, then getting a better server package will help. If it is the second one, getting better package most likely will not help. In most of the website checking tools, server response time includes the time it takes for files to download.

I solely mean on website's speed.
We wanted to make it as fast as possible so the user experience is good at the start.
So you think there is no way one can improve it ?

You can, of course, improve it. However, the first thing you should do is optimize the website's code, make sure there are no loops, the URL's are correct. The "server response time" in a lot of cases are also longer because the website's pictures are not compressed - smaller size means faster download from the server. I recommend checking tools.pingdom.com for more detailed steps what can be improved on your website.

I faced many times with loop problems on my website like queries loop, rewrite url loop, etc but I don't know how to check to solve them. Is there a way or tool to check this? or can I find them via server logs file?

There is no easy way to say how to find the loops in the code. If the error messages are set up right on the website, it should be seen in HTTP logs on the server. However, in most cases code review solves the issues of optimization.

To speed up the specific WordPress website, you will need to install a cache plugin, enable CDN like Cloudflare, optimize images, javascript etc.

To optimize/speed up the server, select SSD Drive with enough RAM, use a web server like Litespeed, optimize database server/databases, enable caching etc.

Hope it helps. :)
