Hello, everyone!

I'm new to the security of websites. How do you defend against a DDOS attack? Is there a way to counter it? I would also like to know some symptoms that you are being DDOSed. Is there also a way of detecting or identifying who the attacker is?

Thanks!

Not possible to identify attacker, since everyone who ddos you uses infected computers to ddos you with milions of ip different addresses around the world which you can't block it. Your best bet is to get a service from providers who provide ddos protection from L3 upto L7.

There are methods to minimize your exposure to DDoS attacks and mitigate them, but their is no guarantee attackers won't be successful depending on the type and level of attack. How to tell if you're being attacked? Typically, your server becomes inaccessible.

Thanks for your replies! I think I'll set up CloudFlare as a preventive measure against DDOS.
