Apart from the fact Snowden is talking about passwords without a firewall, sure you can hammer an mailbox or SSH connection hard but you only get a few attempts before blocked.

It's an interesting video, though it's a shame that so little people care about strong passwords. I used to have an 8-character long password with upper and lower case letters and symbols, but now I use a more complex 18-character one.

I work at Helpdesk and I think I'll have to make a campaign to inform people about the problems of an easy to hack passwords and the ways they can improve their strength. We have lately seen how hackers have been able to encrypt thousands of computers from around the world, and I guess it's not hard for them to access users' data if they want.

Most people use passwords that are based on personal information and are easy to remember.Some of them even utilize the same passwords for more than one purpose. In such cases, hackers would have access to all of your accounts if they are able to guess the password using their software.

What I usually advise people to do is use a combination of capital and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. It's best to avoid using words found in the dictionary as dictionary attacks are pretty common.

This is a very interesting video, thanks for sharing! I remember when I watched Citizen four (the Edward Snowden documentary) that it really made an impact when he would just put a large sheet on him whenever he needed to access his laptop in the hotel room with the reporters.

I hardly used any of his advices, I use no words, just letters and numbers, and sometimes a special character.

I don't know if this is helpful but I got a computer to generate some passwords for me. I use these passwords exclusively with different combinations of numbers and special characters. Putting the capital letters in the middle of those words can be a help too. Making your password unhackable is really kind of fun if you ask me. But I have to keep a list of these weird passwords in my physical notebook.

Apart from the truth Snowden is discussing about security passwords without a firewall program, sure you can sort an mail box or SSH relationship difficult but you only get a few efforts before obstructed.
