What's your favorite virt type between KVM and Xen PV and why?
KVM for :
- performances
- Hypervizor choice : Proxmox VE, Virtualizor, SolusVM, Openstack
- OS support
- Security

I am just curious what to install KVM and Xen PV on? they should be installed on a dedicated server?
what is the difference between KVM, Xen PV and Proxmox VE, Virtualizor, SolusVM, Openstack?
I am not a web hosting provider hence they are pretty new to me :)

We recently switched from Xen to KVM hypervisors. Big difference. Happy we made the switch. Few issues with OnApp and Xen, KVM is just better.

If you have the knowledge and the ability to hand edit the configuration file on Xen PV, you can actually get better performance over KVM. But if you use the stock configuration files like Virtualizor, Solus, and Promox generate, KVM will give better performance.

We have spent many hours experimenting with both configurations and actually use both in our offerings. Dedicated resources we use Xen HVPV, shared resources we use KVM. Its something that you need you play with and run tests for yourself.
