Ruby on Rails Hosting?

One of my client purchased the hosting package from Hostgator. And he wants to host one backend of his software on it. Hostgator said they do have the ruby on rails. But it seems most of the gems on the cpanel listed are old. And support isn't interested in updating to some new gems and versions are pretty much locked down. So he's thinking about going with other hosting company. And considering he's looking at the price in same range to that of hostgator. Is there any other shared hosting service for the ruby on rails hosting?

Hostgator use very old cPanel release, without even SNI support with SSL certificates (require 1 IP / SSL certificate, when it's not required anymore for few years)
But what is the app he want to run in ruby ? Ask to some other providers what ruby version they support before your purchase.
