If I'm not in love with the solution "all my personal data in Google servers", you can use any other storage provider.
On your server you can use rclone to backup your data easily to several storage solutions. Personally, I use Hubic (OVH) as backup storage, 10TB for 5€/mo it's perfect to keep backup archive for few weeks.

If you don't use to much data take a look at amazon S3. The problem with domestic solutions is in case you need to restore big files. Your home upload speed can be a real problem...
However i always recommend have also a offsite backup in the house just in case.

Offsite backup solution is best say if you want to take backup of your data, assume you are using dedicated server with cPanel/WHM then you can buy a low end VPS where you can setup Remote backup system to take regular/weekly/monthly backup to offsite location even there is many plugins available to do like cPremote.

Google drive provides cloud storage solution and it is accessible everywhere by login to your Gmail account and comes with generous 15 GB free storage space ($1.99 per month for additionally 100 GB) which allowing you to online editing, cloud syncing from smartphone , Build-in OCR. Google drive App also available in iPhone and Android platform.

If you do not want to manage backups yourself, then you can consider following managed backup services, which will cost a few dollars a month and offers manual and automatic website backups:

Backup Machine: free backups, including automated daily website and database backups.
Codeguard: it offers manual and automatic website backups including malware detection and alert features.
Amazon Cloud S3 (Simple Storage Service): 5 GB of free cloud storage ($99 per year cost with subscription)

In my opinion, A cloud storage is a perfect place to keep your website backup. schedule your backups at least once a day to avoid disruption.

Google drive is not bad, but not really intended to be used as backup storage.
And Amazon S3 bill bandwith usage, not a good idea for daily backup.

Cheapest storage provider is hubic, 25GB free > 1€/mo for 100GB > 10€/mo for 10TB
It doesn't come with all awesome Google drive features, but do you really need them to store your backup archives ?

With a modern control panel like Plesk or cPanel, you can schedule incremental remote backups easily.
